Is there a way to highlight proper nouns automatically? Only the Name and no titles. E.g., Bob, Sally etc. and not President, Dr/doctor.

I think so.

Do a Bible search for <LN 93.1–93.388>, then go to the panel menu and select Save as Visual Filter.

It appears that this is only NT. I don't know how to do the equivalent for OT.

The resulting Visual Filter would probably end up being quite a drain, and possibly cause crashes.

(And, in case you think I'm clever, I found the answer here! - https://community.logos.com/forums/p/135081/877921.aspx#877921)

Someone else will probably have a better answer.

Visual filter doc needs two separate lines in my testing

@XP

@NP

@XP is all proper nouns in the NT, @NP for the OT.

Thanks, guys. I think I need to clarify. In the book/resource that I'm reading, not the Bible, mentions numerous names. Is there a way to permanently have those names highlighted?

For example. In the Resource, Ancient Egypt and the OT, by Currid, he mentions such names as, Driver, Delitzsch, Walton etc. Instead of manually using the Highlighting tool to permanently highlight each individual name, is there a way to have a filter to do that?

Or, is there a way to use the Filter to find one specific author's name and have them highlighted and not disappear after Logos is closed?

Somewhat convoluted but I hope you get the gist :)

The Bible works because each word is tagged. Logos doesn’t know that “milkman” is a “proper noun” otherwise.

The visual filters that have been explained are exclusively based upon tagging. You can perform a search for ”milkman” and it will be highlighted as long as the search window remains open.

EDIT: You may be able to perform a visual filter by surface text. if so, it would not allow you to auto highlight "proper nouns," but would allow you to specify a specific proper noun (similar to the search technique).

I tried and could not get this to work, although this is not my specialty.

One big wall, is that I assume your names are in footnotes.  Just fumbling around, I notice (off-topic):

- The right-click implies you can highlight footnote popups (choice of colors and styles, of course). I'd think a 'search' would be good.

.- And when nothing is appropriate, it still displays a blank right-click panel. Always communicative.

But no workarounds.
