Searching for phrases with a nested OR

If I remember correctly, a search for "kingdom of (heaven, God)" in Logos 9 would find results for "kingdom of heaven" and "kingdom of God".

The (what I think is) equivalent search in Logos 10 "kingdom of (heaven OR God)" doesn't return any results (Logos 10.0 SR-2)

Am I doing something wrong or is there an issue here?

Logos 10 search treats quoted phrases as phrases; you can no longer nest search syntax within them.

This particular query is one that got a little more complicated in L10. Try:

"kingdom of" THEN term:(heaven OR God)

That's a detail I'd missed - I was always rather impressed it worked in L9!

Try "kingdom of" THEN term:(heaven OR God)

Absolutely - but I did like the (to me) simplicity of the L9 nested option.

Incidentally, one detail you might be interested in. The term option suggested by Bradley causes the heaven OR God to be treated as a single term and so all the search results are in the same colour. So it is ideal for when you are interested in either result and are not particularly concerned about where the word God or heaven is being used.

Whereas your search treats both search terms as different terms and so they are highlighted in different colours. And this can be really helpful when you are interested in exactly which words are used in different cases.

Good point about the colors. I'll try to remember that.

I had mucho trouble with Search in L9.. just couldn't get my mind wrapped around all the brackets quotes and such.... but the work they did on Search in L10 ... it seems to me ... to be usable.... and I'm thankful for that.

Whilst that is true, it is also true of THEN! So the result and highlighting are the same with "kingdom of" THEN (heaven OR God)
