Another tip of the day (TOTD) series for Logos/Verbum 10. They will be short and often drawn from forum posts. Feel free to ask questions and/or suggest forum posts you'd like to see included. Adding comments about the behavior on mobile and web apps would be appreciated by your fellow forumites. A search for "L/V 10 Tip of the Day site:community.logos.com" on Google should bring the tips up as should this Reading List within the application.

This tip is inspired by the forum post: BUG: Copying text from resources into Notes does not include Bibliographic citation info. - Logos Forums

Citations are a frequent topic in the forums - missing citations, citations not formatted correctly, how to cite when pages are unnumbered, how to cite electronic tools ... here are some common answers.

To the best of my knowledge, the mobile apps do not support passing of the citation in a footnote. One the desktop, whether or not a citation is created depends upon the length of the quotation and the program settings. Experience tells me that quotations of less than 25 characters or so, do not get a citation. If anyone knows the actual rule, please share it. Citations are requested or suppressed in the Program Settings. You may request that they be hyperlinked and may request any of several formats.

Available styles include:

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
