What time is it?

I find the dates and times of recent postings on the forums rather confusing, resulting in my having to scroll through the pages every day to see if I've read the posts or not. It is now 9 am on Friday 10th, but look at the weird times on the picture!

I see my posts in order that they arrive at Logos Space Dock but with the time stamp correctly recorded for my location (GMT).

It is of course obvious that all Logos times should be recorded as GMT not the other aberrations that they use.

While the time stamps adjust to your local time zone (which can be changed at https://community.logos.com/user/EditProfile.aspx), what is "today" and "yesterday" seems to be determined by Logos time ;-). So as long as Bellingham is on a different day from your time zone, it will look like that.

Just as a tip, for various reasons I and others use "subscriptions" to the forums I am interested in, which sends emails to me in real time when a post is created. I use gmail for my email; I 'filter' incoming messages that have the 'forums@logos.com' email address as the source, I archive them so they bypass my inbox, and then I label them (so they end up in a "folder"), and then I can read them without them cluttering my inbox. I am sure something functionally equivalent to this can be done with many email clients!

Here is a picture of my Logos forum posts "folder" (not really a folder in Gmail, but functions as one); I then use different color stars to note a thread of special interests or to identify where I have posted or created, in case folllow-up is needed:

Subscriptions emails arrive very quickly. For example, when I click the "post" button to create this forum post, by the time I just click on another browser tab that I have up with Gmail in it, the post is already there!

It's important to repeat that using this technique, these emails do not clutter my inbox - they never show up there. My filter will archive them while they remain unread. So, I can see how many unread posts are in the folder without going there. I am then able to read them on my time when I am able, mark all of them as read when I have finished browsing the titles of the new ones, and then I can get other work done when I need to.

This has the advantage of shielding me from forums that I have no interest in - I only see posts in the forums I care about. I subscribe to many forums, but not ones in different languages, or products I don't use, etc. I also see posts like "New beta version" very quickly, in case I want to update right away due to some issue that was improved/fixed.

If you are interested in subscriptions, you can find the page where you select forums to turn on by going to the forum Home Page, and on the right side you will see shortcuts - the link is there:

Turning off the emails by forum or completely is also quick and easy if you decide it's not right for you or to tune the forums you are notified about. I suggest starting slow and only selecting emails from one forum, to get everything set up. Once that's working to your satisfaction, it's easy to add other forums of interest.

I find this is much more manageable and avoids some of the forum issues that others have noted here. Just a thought if it might work for you!

I guess that's Greenland Mountain Time. Since Faithlife doesn't recognize our time, we just us Faithlife time, which applies most of the year. Probably their Phoenix office also uses Faithlife time.

Actually, I never saw the issue, since I use Topics view in the forum. All nice and neat.

Usually I refresh https://community.logos.com/forums/MyForums.aspx & respond to discussions having my previous comment(s) before refreshing recent posts in all forums.

But that is not the problem in Roger's screenshot. The posts are in the correct order. In his time zone at the time it was 9am on the 10th. But in Bellingham it was still the 9th. Time stamps are correctly shown in Roger's time zone, but "today" is applied according to what I assume is Pacific time. Those posts shown as from "today" are actually from the 9th, so they should say "yesterday". I'm in CET (GMT+1) and I see the same problem when I check the forum in the mornings. Roger must be in GMT+2 (or at least his forum account thinks he is - check https://community.logos.com/user/EditProfile.aspx)

Edit: Actually, after playing around a bit with the time zone for my account, application of "today" and "yesterday" does not seem to use Pacific time, but something else (but definitely not the user's time zone)

Another thing: When I try to change my forum time zone to GMT+13 (yes, that time zone does exist!), it get's automatically reset to GMT (maybe it is Mike after all who is causing all of this by trying to get us all to confirm to the empire!)
