Another tip of the day (TOTD) series for Logos/Verbum 10. They will be short and often drawn from forum posts. Feel free to ask questions and/or suggest forum posts you'd like to see included. Adding comments about the behavior on mobile and web apps would be appreciated by your fellow forumites. A search for "L/V 10+ Tip of the Day site:community.logos.com" on Google should bring the tips up as should this Reading List within the application.

This tip is inspired by the forum post: L/V 10+ Tip of the Day #175 Context Menu: below the line: Preaching theme & theological topic - Logos Forums

Grammatical constructions does not rate a mention in the Context Menu portion of Help. There is, however, documentation of the feature to which Greek grammatical constructions provide a link but the Hebrew does not.

These resources have not been updated to reflect the new search syntax. This particular data type (note the dark diamond icon in the Context Menu indicating generic data type.) It is of use primarily for students and scholars of the original languages (Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic) although others with sufficient language/linguistics knowledge may find them useful as well.

This is the first tagging in the Context Menu where the number of occurrences is not apparent from the Context Menu.

In order to determine the number of occurrences and where they occur, select the Search This Book option on the right. This shows that there are 7 occurrences in the selection - the final one highlights the "I" in verse 8 and is easily missed (well, I kept missing it anyway).

The Lookup feature offers one book i.e. Greek Grammatical Constructions Dataset Documentation (or the Hebrew equivalent).  This provides not only a definition and examples, but also links to grammars which on hover provide a preview as below.

This is a good example of how Logos/Verbum provides linkage from the text through a definition of structure to a grammar for explanation.  It illustrates how familiarity with the Context Menu puts much of the power of Logos/Verbum at your fingertips and helps you use your resources appropriately.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
