New to Bible study software..

Hi Everyone,

I need like a 101 class for logos. I never used bible study software b4. I watched the vid of how it works and That the kinda thing I like to do. And since there is a mac version You guys have another cilent

However I just installed the beta 7 for mac version. Its has in stalled but I have not bibles to read. Have a missed a step or 2. Or do I need to to do some more installtions

When you first install L4, two things must happen before you can use it: 1) L4 must download all your resources. 2) L4 must index your library. This index will include ever word in every resource you own.

These two operations will take some time. How long depends upon the size of your library. Hang in there. It will be worth the wait.

BTW, welcome to Logos 4 and welcome to the forums. Don't be a stranger. You will find family here and they are willing—even eager—to provide assistance day and night. Someone somewhere in the Logos world is awake and ready to help.

If you have the latest Beta, (Beta 7) the indexer should prevent system sleep automatically. It will allow the display to sleep while indexing. Shutting your mac down would cancel indexing. You should see a little blue logos icon in the menu bar. If you mouse over that, or click on it, it will give you an approximate wait time. Know that until the indexer runs for a while, the estimates can very from 100's of hours to just a few. Generally, 8 hours would be a long time to build the index, and for many people it can be done in 2-5 hours depending on the size of the library, amount of memory and speed of processor

What u have told me suggests to me I have not install L4 properly as I dont have a l4 icon anywhere.

I downloaded the dmg file onto my desktop, I opened it up and draged the L4 icon into my "APP" folder and open it. and this is what I see.

in the spirit of non-assumption Erik did you buy any resources or a base package or did you just download the L4 program. Before I bought the base package my L4 program was mighty lonely as well! [:)]

What u have told me suggests to me I have not install L4 properly as I dont have a l4 icon anywhere.

When Logos 4 Indexer is running, a Blue Icon appears in menu bar (upper right on screen) - can hover mouse over icon for status:

Blue Icon goes away when indexing done OR indexer crashed. To know if indexing completed, try searching:

If search returns results, indexes OK. By the way, above search looks for 2 text strings: 28 AD or AD 28.

Rebuild Index command causes Logos to delete all indexes and rebuild them - blue icon in menu bar should appear shortly after command clicked:

Hi Paul, Well I downloaded from this link : http://community.logos.com/forums/t/6747.aspx I got it from the 1st page step 7. under the topic " New to Logos 4 Mac. Becuas ethat is what I am :0 Very very new to Mac and very very veyr very to logos. I guess my mistake is that I thought this was some type of trail package being a betea version. - "Try before you buy:" I didnt except all the bells and whistles but I was expecting something to play with to get a feel. Yes I know presumption is a sin !! lol[^o)]

I must say that this is the 1st program I have ever come across that has confussed me enough to need a forrum I can useally work it out. I will give it one more go failing that I will be remoing it from my system. Thanks everyone for your inputs

Without resources, Logos Bible Software 4 program lacks usability.

Logos does have online training => http://www.logos.com/training that includes link to many videos => http://www.logos.com/videos

Primary difference between Mac and Windows is some menu and icon locations:
