We have identified a performance issue surrounding resource panels on Windows. The team is working on a fix now. Thank you to everyone that shared your information, it was helpful.
In the meantime, if you open the app without any resources open, it should allow you to type unhindered. Closing resource panels would not be sufficient, you need to start the app without opening resource panels.

Thank you for the update, Nick.

When I type a verse in the Copy Bible tool it is very sluggish - never been like this before.
This is happening on 2 Windows 11 systems, both i7-9700 systems with 16GB of Memory - one a Dell, one an HP. I noticed it immediately when both machines updated to 28.0. Thought it was a computer problem, but at home and at church, it is the same issue.
CPU usage is about 26% for Logos when I start typing. Ram usage is 856MB, no change when problem is occurring.
Probably 30 panels, but that is normal and has been so for years.

As stated above by Nick, Logos identified is performance issue on Windows as soon as you have resource panels opened. Which matches your description.

I have the same problem on Mac.
I have to close and open the app multiple times until it finally decides to open. I can barely run the app, when it finally does open. Everything is sluggish. Restarting hasn't provided much relief.
The only way I can run Logos is I close all the apps that I use....Open Logos first, then open the same number of apps that I had before.
For reference these apps have always been open on my computer from the beginning even before v28 and never had an issue on my mac.
List of apps: Safari, Messages, Omnifocus, WhatsApp, Fantastical, DevonThink, Spark, Slack, Craft, Obsidian, Drafts

I also experienced a few deadlocks on startup on my Mac. Seems related to the splash screen (killing the splash process unblocks the app startup), possibly related to some network request. Different issue than what is reported here I believe.

I am having a lot of these issues too. I notice it the most in Sermon editor when typing it can get a full word ahead of what is showing up on the screen and that really messes me up. I am running Windows 11, sermon editor is by far the worst. I am using an external monitor but even with that off it is still slow. I have one window but 5 tabs open. I noticed it getting slow this week with the update to 28. My CPU, an i7, ramps up 10 to 15% when I type in sermon editor and then throttles down when I stop. Memory seems to be what I would expect with Logos. Restarting does seem to help a little bit but it reverts back pretty quick

I've done more trial and error and updated my procedure for reverting to a previous software build. I am currently running 26.1.32 to see if it runs any faster than 27.2. I plan to go back to 28.x (or 29.x) whenever the current issues are fixed.
See this post for the instructions. https://community.logos.com/forums/t/218543.aspx

We just shipped 28.1 that has a fix for the known performance issue with resource panels on Windows. If you continue to experience performance issues with 28.1, please let us know.
If you previously had disabled updates with the command `set update channel to manual`, you can re-enable them with the command `set update channel to stable`.

Well, the link set problem is fixed. So far, everything seems to be running quickly.

This Mac report appears to be something different, it's not something that we have seen internally yet. If possible, it would be helpful to get a screen recording of activity monitor while it appears to be deadlocked or sluggish, as well as sampling using the Sample button in the Logos Logging Utility described on the MacOS page here. Thanks

Thanks Nick, I'm so glad to hear that!

I downloaded the update a couple hours ago and it seems to me that performance is *much* better than before.

So far so good, uploaded the 28.1 and it looks to be doing well. Thank you Nick and logos for getting the issue fixed. Blessings for ya'lls hard work.
