Factbook expansion libraries.
Was wondering if anyone has any of these and if they are useful? I was considering buying one of them to see if they would give me more details in my factbook searches, or if I should just opt in for the Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary (6 vol) instead?

All are useful, depending on your wants, needs, desires, and budget. I'd recommend Small Factbook at a minimum. What are your dynamic prices for each of these? Remember, you can return any purchases within 30 days.

AYBD is extremely valuable and sometimes you can get it at really good sale prices.
Another resource that's a must have which really helps fill out the factbook is this one: https://www.logos.com/product/2227/the-oxford-dictionary-of-the-christian-church-rev-ed
Oddly, I see it's available only in the largest factbook expansion collection, but it's available as part of many legacy libraries, which is probably the cheapest way to get it.

Help me out??? I'm confused.... I have Factbook and don't use it very much at all... Are you guys saying the reason Factbook doesn't work well for me is that "have to buy" Factbook datasets to make it work???
Like Logos gives us Factbook that doesn't work and to make it work well we have to invest more money to make a function work? Yep... I'm confused....

No - these Factbook expansion libraries simply add more books into your Library that the Factbook will use when returing results.

I have a kitchen mixer that I don't use very much at all. Are you guys saying the reason the mixer doesn't work well for me is that I 'have to buy' ingredients to make it work???.

I have been using Factbook more recently and liking it better by the minute. Why did it take me so long to get on board? I have found Factbook to be stuffed full of goodies. More might be nice, but mine is already well fatted.

Sorry but.... I am not a Factbook fan. Seems to me, myself and I, that Factbook is just an extension of Search and a function created to "fill in" the inadequacies of Search. I do use Search now, but still not a Factbook fan...

I seen your post on the factbook you made, and you seemed to over complicate it however, I love the factbook because for me I have a hard time with search perimeters and they don't always find what I am looking for specially when I know that there is a verse or something, also, I didn't know you could pull dictionary articles from search, such as from the AYBD or IVP dictionaries?

I agree with xnman. It is highly confined and just an overarch of search function. That to say, these resources are great if you have the funds. I have never really used Factbook becuase to me it is like a revolving door within a elevator. It is very confined. It only gets what you have accessible in your own library. Sometimes it is good for pointers. It is like a macrosized wikipedia for Christian theological and biblical research. I do not have a very big library as most do. Just in the past few days, I have been studying Ambrosiaster. The factbook entry on him was sparse so I went to Wikipedia. It had more info than I found on Logos. Just the few dictionaries I have in Logos only gave me 5 pieces of info on him. Bare none this is a very skewed figure in church history as much is not know on him. If you have the money go for it.

Hmmm. I am a fan (newly so) of Factbook. I have a medium size library and get 7551 hits from 572 resources in my Books search. Factbook gives me four. But, if I open the Factbook Key article for Ambrosiaster, the sky breaks open.
