Many of the beta features in v32 require a license (see the release notes for more details). To gain a temporary license during the beta period, please become a follower of this Faithlife group. The license will expire when v32 is released to the stable channel.

To change Logos to the beta channel, enter the command Set update channel to beta in the Command Box. (Please see beta warnings and risks.)

To immediately update Logos (if it is already set to beta channel), enter the Update Now command. Otherwise, the app will automatically update the next time it's scheduled to check for updates.

Trying to join the group and it says invite only. Should it be public?

same problem - group is invite only so your link does me no good.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

The first thing I tested was changing the light/dark theme without restart. That was great! Thank you.

I gave the new AI search a test run. I had just recently read “Where Two Or Three Are Gathered Together”:  Literary Structure As A Key To Meaning In Matt 17:22-20:19 in JETS 39 by David McClister. I wondered how easy it would be to 'stumble across' this article with AI search vs. Precise Search

AI Search Chiasm in Matthew 17-20

    • Results were useless. It pulled commentaries on Daniel, Proverbs, Obadiah, Nahum, Zephaniah, Chronicles, Leviticus, some extra-canonical books, and some of Calvin's works.Only one result returned anything close to Matthew, but it was an article on Matthew 26:17-20.

    Precise Search chiasm bible:"Matthew 17–20"

    • The exact article came up as the third result. The first two results cited it. The fourth article was on the chiastic structure of the entire gospel.

If the idea is for AI search to get us the most relevant information from obscure prompts, precise search still does better.

Thanks for this test case. It looks like we're not doing a good job of recognizing the chapter range. I'll look into it.

Thank you for this exciting beta! Some initial quick feedback:

    • Suggest using the same icon for Summarization in both the side panel and the All Search results (and avoid using that same icon for Smart Search also).
    • For All Search, suggest giving us a switch to include or exclude books we don't own.
    • All Search and Books Search hints: suggest change the second bullet from "Use a plus sign (+) to ignore articles that don't include that word" to "Use a plus sign (+) to only include articles that include that word"

    Questions:

    1. Can we have Smart Search for Bible Search also please?
    2. 58 resources were also updated today, most of them interactives. Is this related to the v32 beta release? Can you tell us how and why are almost all the interactives updated today?
    3. I noticed that the indexing after upgrading to v32 beta1 is a LOT slower than the indexing before (used to take < 10 mins; now only at 71% after 1.5 hrs). Is that other users' experience too? Logos, is this related to the 58 resources being updated? Or related to the new AI search/summary features?

Not Logos here, but I think you are mistaken. Almost or all interactives were updated recently, yes, but this was on Jan 16th for me and other forum users. The new beta didn't bring any updated resources or datasets, as far as I could see. As to why: there was no reason given and none speculated in the forums. There was no change visible in the interactives that I would have seen, no even a fix of blatant errors that were raised to Logos.

Hmmm I have Logos open every day and have been using it every day. These resource updates did not download until today right around the time of upgrading to v32 beta1. Wonder why?Any ideas, Logos or others?

I have "Use Internet" and "Automatic download" both set to Yes. On Logos 32 Beta 1, on Windows 10.

We're using a "sparkle" icon to represent the use of an AI feature, so you know upfront what you're getting. That's why you're seeing the same icon in different tools.

A very boring answer, I'm afraid: most interactives are built with javascript s they work on the web app, and we needed to update some of the javascript frameworks for improved security.

These features are online-only and require no indexing.

Does Early Access mean that these features won't be a part of the v32 stable release? So for example, v32 won't include the Change Theme without Restart capability?

No, it more likely means that the AI features have some cost component to cover the costs to Logos for the use of 3rd party software. But that is just my assumption because of the requirement for a license - not inside information.

As the release notes say, the license for the early access features will only be valid during the beta period. We’ll be sharing more at that point.

This is all very nice… 💯

    ---

I've noticed the light-dark-mode-switching works mostly great, except when it's triggered by the OS.

    1. Open Logos
    2. Switch theme (using F4)
    3. Notice text switching to proper color (opposite of background)
    4. Set theme-color to System in Logos-settings
    5. Switch theme using OS-switch (in my case: macOS control center)
    6. Notice background switching, but text switching to opposite color (gray on white and black on gray)
    7. Switch theme using F4 again (UPDATE: resizing the Logos-window works too…)
    8. Notice Logos adopting to the proper colors again

    iMac 27" (2020) using macOS Sonoma 14.3

Thanks again for the steps above. I was able to replicate this behavior and I'll write up a case for our team to investigate.

    There is no follow option.

You're getting something different from the image below?

(Caveat: I'm not on the beta channel)
