Hi there - still trying to navigate the Early Church Fathers resources in Logos… and struggling.
Is there a quick and easy way to get to a particular reference in the ECFs? e.g. What is the easiest way to look up: "Against Heresies 3.13.3"?
I just now entered "Against Heresies 3.13.3" into the reference box, and it went right to it:
It even switched volumes for me when the reference wasn't in the current volume.
AFAIK Murray the only way is to "remember" that it's in ECF 1 and then navigate to it the long way.
What we need is for L4 to recognize against heresies 3.3 the same way it recognizes 1 Corinthians 3:2 Alas it does not.
I just now entered "Against Heresies 3.13.3" into the reference box, and it went right to it:Unfortunately Todd that doesn't work from the command box as it should. Sure it works once you're in the ECF, but I want it to work from the command box.
Right, but if you open any of the ECF volumes, you can enter a reference for anywhere in the ECF and it will find it. So you don't have to know which volume.
Point taken.
I see that the Apostolic Fathers can be looked up via the command bar.
But you do have to know the appropriate abbreviation or it won't work. Compare:
OK - it looks like the ECFs are the poor cousins of the AFs!
…and thanks, Todd, for pointing out how to navigate once one is in an ECF volume.
I seem to recall that in one of the previous incarnations of Logos/Libronix, one could specify which data type references the Command box would respond to. Anything like that a possibility in Logos 4?
[h] OK that's cool!
But you do have to know the appropriate abbreviation or it won't work.
Against Heresies, I still can't figure out. Internal to AF it's adv. haer. But not in the command bar. Searching.....
Yeah I tried too. Irenaeus isn't considered an AF. At least he's not in the AF-specific resources (Lake, Lightfoot, and Holmes), which I think are the basis for the AF datatype. Also, the ANFv1 description says it contains "apostolic fathers with Justin Martyr and Irenaeus", so it has got those two in addition to the official AFs.
