I uninstalled LDLS v. 3 after installing v. 4. I have my notes files. Surely there is a painless way to do this!?
Follow the steps on this page: http://wiki.logos.com/Importing_Notes_from_LDLS3
Yes, it is painless. Refer to the wiki page below for instructions

Thank you for the quick reply. I already uninstalled LDLS3. What is the minimal LDLS3 install needed to download the toolbar?
You should be able to just download the engine to use the conversion tool. Keep in mind that you need to have retained all of your notes that was stored in the My Dcouments folder by L3 in order to import them. Did you delete those files when you deleted L3?
I have several lbxnot files backed up.
Reinstall the L3 engine and put your backed up note files back in the annotations sub-directory L3 creates in the My Documents folder. Then follow the steps on the wiki page listed above.
Okay thank you. I'd like to register a complaint that it is necessary to install the L3 engine before being able to update the note files. I was not notified of this when I upgraded to v. 4. As a matter of fact the marketing info suggested all my issues would be corrected by the upgrade. The notes files upgrade should have been automated, or there should be a v. 4 utility to upgrade the notes or even a web based utility to perform the conversion. Seems to me that would have been the better way to do it.

Glenn Wilder

I hesitate to mention this (and have up to this point), but some have imported their notes without running the utility first. To do that put your note files (AKA "annotations") in this directory: "Documents\Libronix DLS\Annotations" or "My Documents" if you're using XP (Vista?). Then simply run the import utility.
NOTE: this is an unsupported procedure and may not work as you want. This will be particularly true if you have not kept up to date with L3 (Libronix).
The reason for using Libronix to fix potential note problems was probably because it was the simplest solution for the programmers. The L4 note system has such a different design that it would be a complicated procedure to pull off this way.
You're right that it would have been helpful for Logos to advise users to keep Libronix installed until the user document import feature was finished. That was my advice on this forum, but it would have been good to have that advice in L4's installation documentation.

Thanks for mentioning that Richard. I was not aware that this has worked for some.
The notes files upgrade should have been automated,
I agree with you 100%, along with all of our other data
Once again I do appreciate your assistance guys. If you prefer that I install the V.3 engine and toolbar I can pursue that route. If you wish to pursue my particular situation any further, read on. I have Win 7. I had changed my Documents library to \Documents when I installed Logos v. 4. (I have all my data on ) Logos did not create a subfolder in Documents. I added back C:\Users\Glenn\Documents to my Documents library in case Logos needed it, and copied my backup \Libronix DLS folder there, with the Annotations subfolder. (As yet I see no Custom Toolbar subfolder - that probably happens when you install the toolbar?) So, if you have any other ideas let me know, otherwise I will go with what you have offered.
L3 does not create the user files folder in \Documents until needed. If you have properly redirected your \Documents folder then L3 should find it, however you can create the necessary folders in both locations:-
Glenn,
I recommend that you reinstall L3 and keep it installed for a while. We are getting to the point where L3 is no longer necessary, but I definitely recommend keeping it while you make the transition--at least a few months.
