Anchor Yale Bible Reference Library ship date

We are putting the finishing touches on the Anchor Yale Bible Reference Library. As part of this process, we are awaiting publisher confirmation on a few things, and we're unable to ship until we get these details finalized.
This means that the ship date has been pushed back a few days. We expect that it will be delayed into next week, and possibly longer.
This affects the following Pre-Pubs:
- Anchor Yale Bible Reference Library (29 Vols.)
- A Marginal Jew: Rethinking the Historical Jesus (4 Vols.)
- Old Testament Pseudepigrapha, by James H. Charlesworth (2 Vols.)
- Raymond E. Brown Collection (5 Vols.)
We apologize in advance for the delay. We are working hard to get this shipped as soon as we can.

Well, I guess the delay just means I'll have to spend time reading other Logos books on my iPad! That will make the wait bearable. [:)]

Oh, please, Kent,
Try to drag your feet on the Anchor Yale Bible Reference Library until the end of the month! This has been about as exciting to me as the Zondervan Bible Reference Bundle (87 Vols.) http://www.logos.com/products/details/5656 release. (And just about as unobtainable!) The fast work of the new Superman in Pre-Pubs has left a lot of my hopes and dreams in a cloud of dust. The Anchor Yale Bible Reference Library is the major casualty.
I will put you on my Christmas card list if you can delay it till the Oct 28th....... wanna fruit cake, too?

Great. I (and my bank account) need a break from pre-pub madness!

Thanks, Kent! Peace to you!
Thanks for the post ...
and .. please don't hurry! *smile* I (and I'm sure quite a few others!) are still recovering from so many pre-pubs and Hermeneia coming down the shute...

Just to be fair, the resources being delayed are all the ones I have really been waiting for, for a long time! Maybe just ship to me then? :-)

Good question! If someone wants to purpchase this while taking advantage of Dan's great offer http://community.logos.com/forums/p/24112/179721.aspx#179721
they need to add this to their Pre-Pubs, snapshot it, call Sales and have them snapshot it, then delete it BEFORE the automated processing on ship day. I really hope the current date is not accurate. Anchor Yale Bible Reference Library will be a fine addition to your library and is well worth $599. Especially if you buy it with "Dan's Plan."

Kent, I just found your posting the last minute before sending my thoughts and feelings caused by the delay. Thanks for the explanation! I still post what I wanted to write in the first place:
"Today I had
to find out that the Anchor Yale Bible Reference Library has been postponed again from Oct. 8th
to Oct. 15th, after it had been postponed from 7th to 8th
yesterday.I cannot
help but feel very disappointed. Maybe it’s because I had made every effort to balance
my credit card bank account in advance. Maybe it’s because I cancelled other
pre-pubs/investments because favoring or let’s say prioritizing this one. Or
maybe it’s because I had made a reading plan with resources from this pre-pub
now being delayed. Maybe it’s because the exchange rate was quite good
throughout the last days and it would have been nice to be charged now and not
next week. Maybe it’s because the previous collection I bought for Logos was a
boxed third-party product for which I had to pay the equivalent of about 100
Dollar customs clearance on top of 432 Dollar. Maybe it’s because yesterday was
my birthday and I wanted this pre-pub as my birthday gift.Actually, I
am still deeply grateful to Logos. I have to admit that I have written articles
I would never have finished or even begun (!) without Logos 4 – due to its resources
in electronic searchable form and the software tools like Bible Word Study, Passage
Guide etc. I like Logos 4, I love it. I need it. So, at these times of disappointment
I start to ask myself if I am too greedy, don’t have enough patience? 4.1
released on Oct. 7th was a birthday gift – both for the
printing/exporting and for the sentence diagramming. And the beta screenshots
for 4.2 look good! You have built a wonderful software. You deserve thanks and
thanks and thanks.But I want
to use Logos and that resources for God’s praise. And, maybe it’s because I
have worked in an industry where “just in time” is everything. I still remember
one principle: Never ever inform your customer that you will not deliver on the
promised date. Do it as early as you know you are unable to keep the deadline.
Informing your customer on the very day will cause deep and lasting
disappointment, means loss of reliability, credibility etc. This
pre-pub is a bundle. If it’s not finished completely, maybe some books are. Couldn’t
you unbundle and release for download at least what you have finished? And deliver
what’s missing later when having finished?Brothers
and sisters – am I too greedy? Then please pray for me for more humility and patience.
Thanks Logos team and all the contributors of the forum."That were my feelings before I read Kent's posting. Still one question: Would there be any chance to get such explanations as given by Kent here via email to everybody who ordered the pre-pub. Usually I don"t search the forum for delayed shipping dates. You could prepare standard explanations. I would not care. Just the information that it will be delayed and maybe an apologize... ... might be a good comfort
Blessings

The licenses for the individual sets were separate from the license for the big bundle. So to release individual titles would require extra license numbers for each. Payment to copyright holders is based on how many licenses are issued. So, in short, it can't be done that way without a lot of red tape "refunding" a returned license after the bundle license ships. It is a monumental headache for just a week's gain.
Are you aware of Dan's Pre-Pub plan that will allow you to purchase any & all Pre-Pubs you want over the next 9 months? In case you missed it:

Chinese Water Torture (sort of)
This is the third delay, and it is usually done one day before the product is scheduled for downloading. Please stop doing that. Hard as it may be, please set a specific date and stick with it.

Or at least please give us at least a day's warning. AN email would be considerate - and Logos is normally considerate in other ways. Incidentally is Themelios ever being published? I'm getting so fed up I'm thinking of cancelling my order.

Nikki don't dispair. There have been pre-pubs which I've waited two or three years.

I do mind this constant seemingly random moving of dates. Waiting all week and now pushed back again another week at the last moment.. It is quite a hefty amount of money and frustrating to be toatally unable to plan when it will be gone!

It might be nice, in the event of a delay, to send an email to those who who have ordered a pre-pub resource. I've been counting the days, eagerly awaiting the download of the AYBRL, and would never have known its release had been postponed if I hadn't dropped by the forum.
0 -
What? I looked at the prepub page only an hour of so ago and noticed that -- finally! -- it wasn't moved. And now it is... How many times is it now? I think it's the fifth...

I'm NOT HAPPY. They've moved so many prepubs this month. This is not like Logos. I hope it doesn't mark a new trend. OK, I'm impatient - but what I really don't like is finding the shipping date has been changed on, or AFTER, the date announced. I've no patience with that, particularly when it happens again and again within a month. [:@] I agree, it would be kind if they sent us an email to inform us that there had been a delay.

Now November 5th.

All I can say that every prepub that I have order from Logos has had several shipping dates. So much so, when I first see a shipping date, I now expect to see it with 30 to 60 days of their first shipping date.

Well we should be so lucky my guess is it's more likely to do with the cloud I bet. I mean it makes sense to most of us that we can access our files anywhere, but then what stops one and there spouse using it at the same time??? They have sold one copy but two might theoretically be using it at the same time. Maybe I am just being paranoid. Hopefully you are right and they want to offer us a further discount. Only Logos knows whats really up and it's understandable them not telling us what is going on, not to keep us in the dark but to remain on good terms with publishers allowing them to get us more books.

Thank you, fgh. Maybe they'll let us have it for Christmas? Would have been kind if logos had let us know what the problem was..
And Themelios has completely disappeared from the shipping date section. i ORDERED IT ON 6TH jUNE and it was due to ship very soon after that, if I remember rightly........ Logos said the problems were with the index, but does it really take SOOO long to fix that? Or are there other issues too?

In my view, this is potentially very bad news. Contract issues should have been resolved long ago.

Should we call it a "slip date?" I couldn't resist. Honestly, as I've said before, I am more worried about it getting right.

I just wanted to offer a quick update on the Anchor Yale Bible Reference Library:
We are working as hard as we can with the publisher to get it released as soon as possible, but it's difficult to predict exactly when that will be.
In the meantime, we decided to remove the estimated ship date from the website, and we'll repost it as soon as we have a clearer idea of when we can begin processing orders.
We're working hard to get you your books as soon as we can, and I apologize for the additional delay.

Thank you, Kent! *smile* And Thank God for you and your Logos colleagues and for all you do for us.
I've bought so much lately, that I -- for one -- am extremely patient about this as I attempt to regain financial stability! *smile* A lot has "come down the tube" recently .........
No hurry for me, although obviously there are others who are "chomping at the bit"!
Peace to you!

Thank you Kurt for updating us with the bad news. We won't shoot the messenger (tho I might be tempted to put a bomb under the publisher...) Incidentally, could you also remove the constituent parts of the package, Brown, Pseudepigrapha etc, from the page.
Is Themelios published by the same people? That's been disappeared for months..

Thanks for the update! Now we know whom to include in our prayers the most: the publisher.
One more question: Will there be another email in advance when you begin processing orders? I mean it's an amount of money, and I would appreciate a warning in advance without checking the pre-pub site every other day. Thanks in advance! Good luck in dealing with the publisher!

Thanks, Kurt. Disappointing news, as this is one of the pre-pubs I've been most looking forward to. But I can live without it. I've survived just fine up until now without it, so what's another week or two...or month. (Hope it's not that long, though.)

Since the AYBRL release has been delayed, how about rolling back the pre-pub price to $499? I cancelled my prepub order, thinking I didn't have the $ for it. Had I known it would be delayed, I would've held on to it. (It can't hurt to ask, can it?)

If you contact a sales rep and explain the situation, I bet they could reinstate your pre-pub at the original price it was when you ordered it. I'm not sure they'd have a record of when you ordered it since you deleted your order, but they do probably know what the past price was and might take your word for it that you ordered early and should get that lower price. It's certainly worth trying. I've never known someone to be disappointed after calling a sales rep.

Thanks, Rosie. I'll give it a shot!

I receive a confirmation email from Logos every time I place an order for Pre-Pubs. I save them in a special folder for "just in case." I may be wrong but don't some Pre-Pub titles graduate in price increases as they go along? So a former order could have been placed at one of several different prices depending on the date.
But I agree with you; I have never been disappointed talking to a real person at Logos.

Yes, that is true. If you remember what price you had locked in and/or when you ordered it, they probably would believe you (they've probably got a record of what the prices started at and even probably what the graduated prices were and when they went up). And saving the email confirmation as proof is not a bad idea. I do that too.
