Problem with installing version 4.1 on my Window 7 computer

I have a problem with installing version 4.1 on my Window 7 computer. For over 24 hours now I get " Logos Bible Software is preparing your library ( stage 2 of 3)". How do I complete the installation. I can't get into the program. I have Scholar's Silver 4.0 presently on my computer.

Could you give us you computer specifications?

Stage 2 should not take this long for you (unless you are really underpowered for Logos). Stage 3 (indexing) can take many hours (again depending on hardware), but Stage 2 should take a fraction of that.

If you don't move to satge 3 soon, I'd cancel the Logos4Indexer function directly using Windows Task Manager. Then enable Diagnostic Logging (see:http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Loggin ), and restart Logos. It will trigger another Stage 1, 2, 3, but we will have log files to look at to see what may be holding things up. (You can attach zipped copies of the files to a post using the paperclip icon on the message compose screen.)

First, welcome to the forums.

Get into Task Manager (right click the Windows Taskbar and select it) and stop the process Logos4Indexer.exe. Initiate permanent logging but follow this procedure for starting L4. If there are any issues then upload the logs to the forum.

This is still waiting for the Indexer to complete and it indicates you are having trouble logging in - you haven't got the main window to show. But it is 4.1 SR-3.

Please stop the Indexer, restart L4 and upload the indexer log as well as the logos4 log if the indexing still persists.

You should definitely not be having the time issues you are having with these specs.

Do what Dave suggested. There could be a corrupt resource or two that might be causing the indexing problem. Something else may be causing the login issue.

I know it is frustrating, but hang in. It will get fixed.

You're experiencing an error I haven't seen reported before.

The software is trying to update your Library Catalog, but can't overwrite one or more of the
C:\Users\MBR_Dsk\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\thiv3bh0.0so\LibraryCatalog\catalog.*
files. This is typically due to another program having those files open, but may also be due to permissions problems or some other error.

Once possible fix is to delete all files in that folder except catalog.db (terminate the Logos4Indexer.exe process first).

If the problem still occurs (i.e., the same error is logged in the log file), try disabling any other programs that might be reading/writing those files in the background and conflicting with Logos. These could include anti-virus, anti-malware, desktop search, backup, online sync, Dropbox, etc. (And if you do find a specific program that's interfering, please report back so we can test with it and try to work around the conflict.)

I just got off the phone with tech support. The problem was with my catalog file, just as Bradley said. I'm up and runung now.
