Latest Updated NIV

I'm wondering when will the latest updated NIV Bible be available. How about considering giving at no charge to those who make purchases of at least $100 with Logos for the past one year? I think it will be a great incentive to purchase more in the future knowing that regular customers are rewarded.

Print copies of the new NIV will be available, I understand, from March 2011. As to its appearance in Logos - your guess is as good as mine. The sooner the better!

Since the name is going to be the same, I am hoping it doesn't automatically replace the current NIV in the library, and that access to the original NIV is retained.

The updated NIV is already online at the most famous bible site. They've started calling the older version 'NIV 1984'. Having had a flick through, I mostly like the changes. Perhaps Logos will be able to get their hands on an electronic version before march!

I suspect there will be the usual licensing fee Logos will have to pay to the copyright holder for each person who adds this to their library. Even if it is only $10 per copy, that would amount to millions of dollars if every Logos user got it for free. It is a nice thought but unlikely to happen. If you pay close attention to the Logos blog, holiday sales, Pre-Pub , and Community Pricing pages, you will see Logos does reward their regular customers! You can make sure you don't miss anything by subscribing to email notifications

Shortly after the TNIV came out, it was given away by Logos through a free base-package upgrade. I suspect that this was to get that version into more hands and stimulate sales of the paper edition.

I would not be surprised to see this version be distributed in a similar way, since (IMHO) displacing the 84 version with any other version will not be easy. And I don't expect it to happen any time soon.
