I was reading a passage in the ESV in Paged View and then used the right arrow button to move to another translation as a parallel resource.

This dropped out of Paged View back into "normal mode".

Going back into the ESV picked up the Paged View again.

I would have expected the setting to persist across Parallel resources.

Is this how it is supposed to work?

I think so. I was able to remain in Paged View whilst switching with Parallel sets.

Paged view is resource specific.

I asked a while ago if it would be possible to "set em all at once"...as I went through my parallel resources and set the paged view one at a time and it was time consuming

I seem to remember something like that. For the case that Graham quoted i had no problems with any of my bibles -  Paged View was selected when I jumped into Reading View, but it isn't the default when in a panel. OK, you have to set Paged View for each resource when not in Reading View!

Thanks for the clarification.

I observed the behaviour I described when not in Reading View.

Surely this should be consistent??

It is in Reading viewSmile

If you want it consistent in a Parallel Resource set in panel view you should make a suggestion ie if the resource is paged all Parallel ones are paged, else Parallel ones are not paged. But it shouldn't mean that I always want a (parallel) resource to be paged when opened, so specifying a suitable option will be complicated.

Dave, not sure I understand.

I would have thought "consistency" here is that the way in which Parallel Resources are opened (with reference to Paged View or not) should be the same whether or not Reading View is being used.

Personally I would prefer that if I have set Paged View in one resource and then move to a parallel resource that this setting should be maintained. I can see that others would differ on this!

Melissa, do you know if this difference in behaviour is by design?

Many thanks

Graham

I agree that Paged View is preferred for all resources in Reading View, but it's not a preference that sticks with the resources I use in that View as I prefer resources in a tab/panel to not be in Paged View. However, I may want all resources in a Parallel set to be in Paged View. How do i initiate that when my preference for Paged View applies to only a few resources? It could be an option on the Collection eg. show in parallel resources in Paged view. So I agree with the global preference for Reading View but would like more choice in panel view (which includes floating windows).

I agree with Dave that "paged view" is not so helpful in "normal" view.  I still would like consistency and the ability to establish a norm--across parallel resources that follow a currently opened/paged resource, or a global setting (default: all resources in paged view, eg).

My reading was being done in "floating window", set to paged.  But each new resource opened as "normal."

I like Apples.  Especially Honeycrisp.
