Yes.

Create a collection using * as the operator. that will choose all of your books.

Then in the collection dialog select the panel menu and then Print/Export.

Choose Bibliography only and set your format.

Note that ISBNs aren't available from Logos, which is what I suspect he needs in his "bibliophil" format.

Ah good catch.  I meant to nix the ISBN report idea but forgot it in my haste to make sure I got the first response in.

Has the function to export ISBNs from Logos 4 been added yet?

Not yet Joseph.  It's all part of metadata updates which are happening slower than some of us thought.

Has the function to export ISBNs from Logos 4 been added yet?

The export would require ISBNs to be stored in the Logos library in the first place.

David,

I did just that and printed out the list of my 1900+ resources and put it into a binder.  That way I can get a visual of my library and remind myself of what books I have.  Without them on a shelf it is difficult to remember what is in my collection.  It is almost to many books to have multiple collections though I have some.  Just having a Word file of your Logos Library won't be much more than just using Logos to see your library but a printout is very helpful.  I am continually amazed at what books I have but forgot about or didn't know.

Blessings,

Don

How would a bibliographic list based on ISBNs handle resources that did not have an ISBN?

I thought it was just me who had difficulty remembering thousands of books....

I have found using a combination of methods helps a lot. Mark Barne's bibliographic app helps visualize my library on shelves. A Word file helps searching alphabetically by title or author. An Excel file helps keep track by collections (Logos.com groupings.) A printout is helpful to remind myself what is hidden in the crowd. That is when I usually discover a cool title I did not know I have.  My "book of the day" feature on my L4 home page also reveals such treasures.

Even with these multiple lists I find it wise to search my library just before clicking on the "Buy" button. The grey-out feature for owned resources is wrong often enough not to be trusted. Funny thing In have noticed is the feature never tells me I do own a title if I do not. It always errs on the side of another sale. Hmm Hmm..

It depends: If, as you say, the bibliographic list was based on ISBNs, this probably would suggest treating the ISBN as an identifier key (as some library management software do) and assign a sort of dummy-ISBN to non-ISBN works.

Alternatively, the ISBN is just another info item for some resources that is kept in the library and able to be looked up, filtered, exported etc. If someone wants to import the exported list into a software that treats ISBNs as identifiers, they would need to edit it accordingly.

Import your information into a catalogger - like LibraryThing on the Web. I use a Bento database, which I'm going to update with my Logos stuff thatnsk to this post - and then I can do a quick search for whatever in most of my resources. (Except, perhaps, Kindle.)

Ian - I'm trying to do just that - upload all my Logos resources info into LibraryThing. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a way to get the ISBN info out of Logos. Rick Brannan seemed to have a method that worked back with Libronix, but that does not work with the newer engine.

I have just found that I can do a search on ISBN inside Logos and get useful hits, but there's still no easy way to export that info either.

If you come across any tips, please post them!

Paul
