Sorry! Yes it was "A Textual Commentary on the Greek New Testament" that I meant. It shows in Logos with the iPhone logo but it doesn't appear in my library on the iPhone (although I have it on my desktop). Is it possible that this is because it is linked to UBS 4 / NA27 which is not currently available on iPhone?

Karl,

My experience has been that the iphone app FREQUENTLY has sync problems for a reading plan. It somehow fails to sync updates to the Logos server.

During periods of time when I am primarily reading on the app, it sometimes forgets what has already been marked as read. It seems to have problems changing from offline to online, or online to offline. Hopefully a future update will have a complete re-write of this function for the app.

Also, the app seems to have no option for managing a reading plan. After a while, I usually experience problems keeping the iPhone app and a WIndows reading plan in sync.

My reading plan is not syncing between my platforms (Mac and iPhone) using the ESV to read through the Bible by the end of the year.  A duplicate reading plan was created also.

I do appreciate the reminders that say I am falling behind in my reading plan, but I really am up-to-date!

Having a similar problem.  I made a new reading plan on my PC (Psalms on ESV) and it won't show up on my iPad (2nd gen).  It's been about 14 hours since I made the new reading plan, restarted my iPad, etc.  The Logos app has even downloaded a couple resource updates, so I know it's syncing to the server, but no reading plan (other than the default one for reading through the ESV in a year that you can delete but it just shows up again immediately).

I have finished (and deleted) an old reading plan (KJV), but it still shows up on the iPad.  The new reading plan I created does not show up at all (ESV).  Both resources are on the iPad.  Is there a way to force a sync?, clear cache?

Hi Peter

The short answer is no!

Some tell us that the thing will sync eventually but that has not been my experience.

We are also told that the Sync system is being overhauled but not when this feature will be re-intoduced.

My reading plan (ESV in a year in four sections: OT, Pss, Provs, NT) finally appeared on my iPhone yesterday (took just over a week). Given my experience in the last few weeks, I expect that, from time to time, there will be trouble syncing and duplicate reading plans will end up being created on my desktop - but I can live with that for now. I'm just glad to have my reading plan available on the iPhone again.

My only advice is this: Be patient. Don't be tempted to tinker with your iPhone / iPad and try uninstalling / reinstalling. Don't fiddle around creating new reading plans. These things will only delay / confuse the issue. The problem seems to be with iPhone app itself and the way that it syncs. Eventually (assuming that the reading plan uses a Bible which is available on your mobile device and your desktop "use internet" setting is enabled), your reading plan will sync through to your mobile device. And hopefully before too long, Logos will sort out the syncing issues and it will work like a dream!

Just to add my $0.02 worth: I have had an old completed reading plan on both iPhone and iPad for 3-4 weeks and it still has not cleared. I have removed it from the ribbon on the Home Page, and show it completed on my PC ... but it still shows on the iDevices. I am patiently waiting!  Wink

I notice that you say you have deleted it from the ribbon on your home page, but have you deleted the reading plan itself? (File, right-click on the completed reading plan and select delete.) My understanding is that, if you do not delete the plan itself, it will not be deleted from your iPhone / iPad.

Having said that, I've not actually tested whether deletions are propogated when syncing. I've just tended to right-swipe the plan on the iPhone and pressed "delete."

However, at least In theory, if you delete the plan itself from the desktop it should eventually disappear from the mobile device.

After several days of my iPad only showing brand new readings plans that I didn't want - and not the ESV reading plan in a year that I was part-way through - the correct reading plan suddenly appeared on my iPad last night.

I'll be interested to see how long is stays there. Smile

I also have completed and deleted a reading plan and it is still hanging around on the Ipod touch. In fact I began a new reading plan that hasn't even showed up on that device yet. Also I have resources that do not even show up on the Ipod at all that I know I have. The sync between my two other computers is fine.

I just remembered this morning that you can manually delete reading plans off the iPad and iPhone. On the home page of the app, simply swipe right over the plan and then click the delete button that shows up. At least this way you can get rid of any reading plans you don't want showing up on you iDevice.

It didn't work for me. Can you show a screen shot?

Logos updated the iPhone app today.  They still haven't addressed the syncing issues with the reading plans.  Why not scrap the reading plan sync feature and let iPhone users create independent reading plans on the phone?  Maybe the option to sync could be added when the developers figure it out.

This is a pain!

Personally I don't care what avenue Logos takes it would be really helpful for my productivity if this software "just worked"!

I've even lost count on how many occasions I've wasted time checking to see if some "feature" or "glitch" in Logos has something to do with my installation of Logos or if it is actually a "bug" which Logos needs to resolve. It's been an ongoing disappointment for me to note the latter has invariably been the case.

Here's my solution for the iPhone and iPad problem of not syncing the reading plans...I'm not going to use Logos on my iPhone or iPad anymore.  It's just too frustrating.  The desktop version is wonderful, but the application has NEVER worked right on either of my portable devices, and I have been using it for 5 months.  No syncing, randomly creating new reading plans, not accepting daily readings, etc.

If you own an iPhone or iPad then you most likely have the apple bookstore app.  Just download a bible and do your reading from that.

Everytime I start up the app on one of my portable devices it keeps asking me to rate the Logos app, and I have been putting it off in the hopes the problem will be fixed.  Unfortunately I'm going to have to give the app two thumbs down.

Jack -

First, welcome to the forums. Sorry you are having troubles.

I unfortunately must concur with you. I would, however, like to give you some hope. The primary problem with the mobile app is the sync infrastructure. Logos is about to release a beta for the desktop app (4.5) which will address sync issues. Once this upgrade goes public (i.e. "out of beta"), Logos will be in a position to release a new version of the mobile app with sync 2.0. Along with working reading plans, we are told that this will bring Highlighting & Notes.

I'm having the same problem mentioned by many. After nearly 2/3 of the way through with my reading plan, it stopped syncing.  Then it keeps creating new plans starting over with Gen 1.

It is very frustrating. It's good to know Logos is working on it, but ...

I think my solution is to start using YouVersion for my Reading Plan.  Besides, they have the NIV.

alabama24,

I'm happy for you and your optimism.  However, we've heard about the wonderful fixes on the horizon for some time now.  This thread was started in December 2010.  God creates babies in less time than it takes Logos to fix a problem that many other apps have no problem with.  I agree with Jack; the Logos desktop program is wonderful but their iPhone and iPad app is "just too frustrating."  It is sinful for me to use the Logos iPhone or iPad app because it tempts me to anger.

Jack,  I too have found a solution to the problem.  The Tree recently announced they are introducing a desktop version this winter.  Logos had better look in the rear view mirror.

The "many other apps" aren't trying to sync with the most powerful Bible Software program on the market. I understand your frustration. If there is another program you like better, use it and don't waste your time on the forums. If you have questions that others can help to answer, than feel free to join in the conversation.
