Is there a way to see the pages numbers of a book when you are reading of the iphone or ipad?  If not is there any plan to include these?

I am not aware of any way to do this, but I, too, would like to see it added as a feature.

Yes, swipe up. Resources with page numbers will display them as long as you are on a page with a number. What this means is you may have to advance a page or more until you are on a page with a number then advance. On an iPad you should only need to advance one page if at all.
