Another surprise. Spendy, but they might make it into Logos.

Too pricey for my liking! $400 for the dictionary, $800 for the commentary! Seriously the price for the Logos edition is way too high, no doubt the price is set by the publishers and not Logos. Not too sure about this one, I will have to wait & see.

The hardcover prices aren't much different. I guess those who want them will buy them.
Expensive, to be sure. But let's welcome Abingdon on board! I think this is great to have them putting a toe, their BIG toe, in the Logos water[:)]
For the commentary, this is very similar to the list price for the publisher's own software - though there does seem to be a 40% off sale right now. Of course, the publisher's software is nowhere near compatible with LOGOS. Don't know about the Bible.
As others have noted, this is too expensive for my budget.

Amen! A couple of months ago I sent in this list of Abingdon titles to suggest@logos.com. Now that Logos has established a publisher relationship with Abingdon, I hope to start seeing some of these show up in prepub:
Ted I am glad to hear you have the hardback... What separates this from any other commentary? Is this commentary more application, exposition, or exegetical? Why would you recommend this commentary? The information logos provided on the commentary is not very explanatory..
My questions. Thanks for asking. [Y]
Is this commentary more application, exposition, or exegetical?
You can look inside some volumes at Amazon: eg. http://www.amazon.com/New-Interpreters-Bible-Matthew-Mark/dp/068727821X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1295077290&sr=1-1
There's one RBL review: http://www.bookreviews.org/pdf/55_336.pdf
It's a while since I used these (5 years or so) so I can't specifically answer your questions.
The prepub page says that The New Interpreter’s Bible presents leading biblical scholarship through an in-depth commentary on the complete Bible, including the Apocrypha. The contributors are leading biblical scholars who bring a wealth of fresh perspectives to biblical interpretation. The contributors are also theologically diverse, reflecting a wide range of denominational backgrounds: Roman Catholic, mainline Protestant, Jewish, and evangelical. The NIB offers the complete text of two leading biblical translations (the NIV and the NRSV), detailed commentary on coherent manageable portions of text, maps, and excursuses. The Reflections sections are a crucial component of the NIB that provide thoughtful, and thought-provoking, insights on the contemporary application of the biblical text for preaching, teaching, and daily living.
I would love to see a Logos edition of Abingdon's the newer critical edition of Wesley's Works with the wonderful notes by Thomas Oden and other great Wesleyan scholars. Just bought them in book form, but would would love to have them in Logos.
All that is available in Logos is the old Jackson edition.
Please!
Will Logos consider a payment plan on this resource as a pre-pub (they have on the Evangelical Exegetical Commentary) -- this is a bit more expensive after all. . .
Email sales@logos.com or dan@logos.com (VP of Marketing & Business Development) to see if they could do that for you.
This is great--check out the new lower pre-pub prices--which are very competitive. Also, Abingdon's software is painful--for the NIB Study Bible, it is pdf based and can't be loaded on your hard drive (always must be run from the cd), and basically has not cut and paste. Having these resources available in Logos is terrific! The 5 volume dictionary for 139 is pretty amazing.
They are a great price and great works I hope the NIB makes it to pre pub really soon.

Ezekiel, in his obedience, models the necessity of discerning God’s word to his times and of fashioning his theological inheritance into a form that can both survive the collapse of old ideas and support God’s new work into the future, when every divine word is fulfilled and the people acknowledge that a prophet and his [God] have been among them. --KATHERYN PFISTERER DARR, New Interpreter's Bible Vol. VI
