Hi, can one inform me which package (if any) i.e. Scholar's Library, Scholar's Library Silver etc, that would include the Biblical Illustrator for both Old and New Testaments? Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Phil,

If you have a question about the contents of the base packages you can either search Logos.com or peruse the comparison chart.  I did a search for Biblical Illustrator and it only came up as an Acts commentary ( http://www.logos.com/product/533/the-biblical-illustrator ).

So unless I'm missing something it appears that none of the collections have what you are looking for.

Kevin:

I came to the same conclusion after seeing Phil's question.  Seems strange that LOGOS would only have this one volume from the set - but it seems to be what is available.  Maybe it should be put into CP.

Thank you for the replies guys. I found the one on the Acts before posting this question, but thought I must be off the rails in my search. This seems strange to me, that of all the Commentaries offered by Logos, the Biblical Illustrator is not. How long does it usually take for Logos to respond to something like this, for example, to include all the Volumes of the Biblical Illustrator? What is CP?

There are lots of commentaries that Logos has, and a lot they don't. The catalog is expanding rapidly and I would not be surprised if the whole set appears at some point in time. It is, however, impossible to say if they will offer it and if so at what time-table. One can suggest a title to Logos @ suggest@logos.com but they don't respond to requests until they put a product on the CP or PrePub page.

CP stands for Community Pricing. It is a means by which Logos can assure that they have the production costs for a public domain title covered before it goes to press. It involve bidding on how much you would pay for a title. If this sounds interesting look here: http://www.logos.com/communitypricing/about

Being an MVP, Kevin may be in a better position to speed up the request.  CP is "Community Pricing".  It allows users to bid on books - and when it sells, it will go for the lowest price that will cover the cost of producing the item.  You can find out more here:

     http://www.logos.com/products/search?Status=Community+Pricing

Once the book has move out of community pricing into production, the price usually goes up - sometimes substantially.  The other way to get a book into production is for LOGOS to put it into PrePub.  In this case, LOGOS sets the price and it will move into production when there are enough orders at their price.  Since this title is older, it is a good candidate for Community Pricing.

Thanks again Kevin & Floyd for your responses. Actually, I'm asking as one who does not own Logos. I've Biblesoft (PCBibleStudy) the Professional Edition. But since they are not doing anything regarding upgrades (not even Aero compatible) I've been looking at Logos.

I'm trying to figure which package, and at the same time, trying to justify the cost of doing so. I've the complete Biblical Illustrator with Biblesoft, so it's things like this that is making the choice to switch to Logos a bit difficult. I like what I see in Logos, so I've got to decide whether I'm desperate enough for Air Miles to reach out and grab a package from Logos.   :-}

Well Phil if you have any other questions about Logos we'd be happy to help.

Keep in mind that you can keep running Biblesoft as long as it will function on whatever OSes are available. I was shocked to read the other day that some people are still even using Windows 98. Logos will co-exist beside whatever other Bible software packages you want to run.

An interesting fact concerning "The Biblical Illustrator"  I discovered years ago:

There are some hardback sets that misspelled Joseph's last name on the spines of the whole set. Instead of the correct "Exell" the set was printed "Excell"

I searched Logos for the incorrect spelling and came up with nothing.

This would be a good Community Pricing addition. I would bid.

I totally agree I almost bought the whole set for 70 bucks but it's a CD ROM with PDF's (i think).  So I'm not sure if they're searchable or not.  So community pricing it is for $30 like Barnes...hehehe
