Pasting into Pages does not produce the footnote. Have you tried MS Word or Mellel? It should work in either of those.

Hi Jack
I don't use Word on Mac but Pages
Strange I thought that it had worked in the past.
Is this something that will be sorted developers??
Seems a pretty key thing to have working correctly
Works in OpenOffice
Would be better in Pages though
Pasting in Pages produces a footnote with the citation information for me.
really??
Which version are you using?

There was a recent thread concerning Pages, but I don't remember the final discussion. I note that at least one poster got footnotes to work in Pages, however.
I'm able to paste citations and footnotes into Pages with the Copy Citations and Copy Footnotes set to "Yes" in Program Settings.
which version of pages is everyone using?

I should have added that. I'm using Pages '09 4.0.5 (852).
running 08 3.0.3 here. Maybe thats why?

If you have the latest Mac beta, I would say that must be the reason, although other Pages 08 users should probably confirm.
I am running the latest version.

No citations, no footnotes for me in Pages 08.
I am using Pages 4 (which is iWork '09).
Theres the answer then. Will this be addressed or do we have to spend yet more money to get full functionality?

The problem in this case probably lies with Pages 08.

Yes, but it requires OS 10.6.6, and I am stuck with 10.5.8 because our company database server (4D 2004) is incompatible with Snow Leopard. Upgrading the server is more than ridiculously expensive. I would rather become proficient with Mellel, but I am too addicted to the L4 forum.
