Team Logos - timeline update

Dear Team Logos,
Can we get an update on a few things:
1 - Android app beyond "being worked on"
2 - Sermon File Addin something more clear than 2011
3 - Update to the Forum software to allow IE9 support and improved mobile support, maybe a tapatalk app like I suggested in another post a while back. Works great for reading and posting via mobile.
Thanks

Sorry, but we don't have (even internally) precise dates for any of those things.

We understand that you cannot provide precise dates. Could we get something non-precise for Android? First half of this year? 3rd quarter? 4th quarter? Thank you for any update that you can provide. We appreciate the software that you provide.

I think Mr. Bob's statement answered your question, so I don't know why ask again for dates. Pay attention to what he said: "Sorry, but we don't have (even internally) precise dates for any of those things."
Hence, the fact that they don't have (EVEN INTERNALLY) precise dates for any of those things" should tell you that a non-precise date is not available either and it wouldn't matter anyway.
Come on people, please be patience. By the way the "EVEN INTERNALLY" was in capital letters for the sake of emphasis and not screaming. Alright, nobody knows the day or the hour, so quit asking the same question and one of these days you might just get a pleasant surprise...[;)]

Thank you for the response Giovanni. Mr. Bob's response did clarify that they did not have precise dates; however, we are not requesting precise dates. We are interested in clarifying a general order of magnitude of what "coming soon" means.

I AM REALLY GETTING TIRED OF PEOPLE FLAMING PEOPLE.
Gioavanni why do you feel you need to respond and scold Chuck for his question? This is not funny...
I don't even use the Android nor do I know Chuck, but I do know that it is rude when people do this to others.

To ChucK: Jesus is "coming soon" -- do you want him to explain to you what "coming soon" means? Coming soon does not have a date or aproximate date attached to it, I think that's common sense. Same thing applies to Logos. They're swampped with work and you and others keep pushing the same question over and over to the point that even Logos may get annoyed. I personally could careless if Android app comes this year or the next. I don't need the app to operate my phone, I have my laptop and desktop and iTouch to use the software. So please, like I said, be patience; I'm sure Logos Team will appreciate it.
To MJD: I was not "scolding" chuck, I was making a point that there is no point in asking for precise or un-precise dates or coming soon dates because as Mr. Bob stated, "They are not available" NOT EVEN INTERNALLY. What what bothers you about me making a point? I even laughed about it and you are here telling me you're tired of people "flaming others." I think you need to look at what you were doing when you wrote your response to me. But then again, you wrote out of ignorance because you didn't really pay attention to what I wrote, so I forgive you brother.
Now to both of you: I'm sorry for trying to make a very simple point that both of you could have understood completely if you had read CAREFULLY and inferred what Mr. Bob implied. Have a blessed day!

Ps. By the way, the Android App and other apps will be ready whenever Logos has them ready and trust me They"ll Let Us Know!

I did not take your response as scolding. I just wanted to clarify that there is a big difference between asking for "precise dates" and a general order of magnitude.
I assumed that I should interpret "coming soon" in a manner consistent with normal human interaction rather than theologically. If interpreting theologically, I will understand that it could come out tomorrow or 2000 years from now. I'm guessing Android will not even be relevant 2000 years from now. I am not being impatient. My question was very simple. People want to know so that they can make purchasing decisions. If soon means a month or a few more months or a year that may make a big difference for someone on purchasing decisions.
Anyways, we're hoping for a response relating to general order of magnitude from a primary source. Thank you for keeping things interesting though. [:)]

Giovanni this is ridiculous go back and read carefully what Chuck originally asked! Nowhere did he asked for precise date actually the opposite. The comparison of Jesus coming soon to an Android apply is the worst attempt to justify 6 months of coming soon on software. Logos would garner much more support in this area with some openness to the issues and not deafening silence when asked. Consumers have that right to ask and if you don't like it don't read the post instead of flaming people.

To all: Logos was demoing the Android app at BibleTech. Unfortunately I didn't know about that until after the fact, so I missed getting to see it. But that tells me it is pretty far along.

Giovanni,
I am so glad that I have become a Christian... In my past I would have engaged in your banter. But, with Love as my lead, I must turn away.
I read the forum daily, why is it that your posts are full of insults, threats, and rants you spew on top of your "self built soap box?"
Please go back and re-read your posts and look at how you attack and insult people in your posts. Do you see the error in your way?
Mike

MJD you must not have read the post where I apologized to people at the beginning of this year. But anyway, I'm not going to follow your lead and argue non sense with you. By the way, I've never threaten anybody in this forum and if I were to do it I'd be more direct than you. Read you're statement "I am so glad that I have become a christian..." that carries a lot of implications, if not why separate them with" ..."? But like I said, this thread is closed to me, I'll participate in others. I forgive you [;)]

I honestly amazed about the tone is getting this simple issue. But the truth is: Companies have plans (usually a five-year plan, and one year plan, and so on). Just tell us if Android is in yours, please.

Hi Roger. Yes, it is in Logos's plan, in fact they've already announced that it's coming! Watch this web page for any future announcements about the timeline: http://www.logos.com/mobile/android
So far they've been pretty tight-lipped about it, but the developers did have it up and running on their own Android devices to show people at BibleTech last weekend, though I didn't find out about that until after I got back so I missed out. [:(]. But rest assured, it is well along, and we should be hearing more news as soon as they are able to or willing to provide it. You can understand that revealing too much too soon could be detrimental to their business plan. I wouldn't be surprised, on something as strategic as this, if we don't hear about it until it is ready to ship. I'm not sure if they are planning to have a beta test of it. I don't think they did with the iPhone app, did they? Does anyone remember?

As far as I know there was no beta testing of iPhone Logos by users. It came just as a surprise even to us, Private Beta Testers of Logos 4. That's what I remember.

Guy, you are whoopin!

I thought it would show up that I had replied to Giovanni Baggio, but it did not. I just wanted to reiterate the point to him. You are a whoopin! Do you find yourself constantly in disputes with people? From what I have see on this forum it appears that you do. If so, check yourself. There may be a real problem in your walk with the Lord.
Someone has said: If your Christianity is not working at home, don't export it.

Giovanni Baggio, for the sake of Logos and yourself, I am asking this and mean you no harm, I have seen you defending Logos a number of times and in each case you have made me feel worse toward the company, I am wondering are you doing this on purpose or do you really like Logos and don't know you are making things worse for them and not better?

True story which may be irrelevant.
A friend's 19 year old son sustained brain damage in a motorcycle accident. Unfortunately, the part of his brain that was injured controlled impulsive control. Tim can remember being normal, want to be normal but that still doesn't translate into being able to control his impulses. 20 years later, his life is hell to the point his mother wishes he had not survived.
I have no more patience with GB's outbursts than others - and I believe that he should be called on inappropriate posts. I also believe that I don't know why GB uses the language that he does. So judgment is between him and the Lord, not between him and me. Note: rightly or wrongly, there are posters who have posted a sufficient number of posts that I feel at bit more like I know them ... when they show an angry blind spot, I do feel justified in judging them vis a vis the post's content.

Jim VanSchoonhoven,
If you feel worse toward the company is because you and the others are immature -- Seriously, make a big deal for this? Come on dude, Logos has plenty of work to worry about than having to worry about you and others who keep pushing the same "dumb" question that always gets the same answer. You and the others should get this, Logos does not have an estimated date for Android App or any of the other apps they'll be releasing in the future. If they had one they would've estimated it at least. So why act like a bunch of spoil kids asking their mom, "when can we have this, when can we have this, when can we have this..." "can you give us a date, can you give us a date," "can you give us at least an unprecise date, can you give us an unprecise date..." GROW UP! You're only making yourself look st*pid [yeah, I blocked it with an asterisc in case it didn't show so you get what i wrote]. Have a nice weekend!
Giovanni
Ps. And yes, I like Logos that much, that's why I've been very patience from the beginning and won't waste their time posting the same question over and over. I unchecked myself from receiving updates from this thread, so you can "rebuttal" all you want...LOL[8-)][A]

Giovanni Baggio, you may have misunderstood the tone of my response towards you, it was not meant to be mean spirited, but rather to help you see the results of your actions.
As far as resulting to name calling, there is no doubt that I am not the sharpest tool in the shed, however I am working on a ThD, as a result of a scholarship for helping a large seminary redo their theology degrees from start to the ThD level. To call me st*pid may be too much, but it does show your passion maybe more than it needs to be, and it only helps demonstrate my point. You are not helping Logos out by throwing fits and making wild statements over the small stuff. I hope you will see this, but if you don't that is okay, I have done my best to help!
In Christ,

Giovanni,
Have prayed specifically for you many times and will pray for you again: including that Romans 5 becomes a reality in your life, especially sharing the Love of Jesus Christ. Also, I'm rejoicing in Jesus Christ and praying for my words and actions to reflect the magnificent Love of Jesus Christ. Likewise I'm praying to Logos (the Word) for Logos (company and employees, including families) and all Logos forum users, especially Pastors.
With Many Volunteer Posts (MVP), have interacted with many virtual Logos friends that enjoy living room style conversation, often with Smiles (in a loving tone). Your "st*pid" words prompted me to search my Logos library, which lead me to "Preaching with Spiritual Passion: How to Stay Fresh in Your Calling" that is included in Leader's base package plus Scholar's base package and above. Chapter 9 BUT DO YOU LOVE ME? includes: logosres:pstsoul3;ref=Page.p_149;off=369
Loving the jerksIn a lecture at Beeson Divinity School, Dr. Elizabeth Achtemeier told of a former student who couldn’t preach. She struggled to understand what was wrong, until he started talking about his congregation: “They’re all a bunch of stupid jerks,” he said. Achtemeier stated unequivocally, “It is impossible to preach to people you hate.”
While that may seem obvious, her point underscores the fact that effective preaching is at least one part relationship. How does a pastor preach so the people feel loved?
I certainly never felt loved by most of the preachers of my childhood. I remember Brother Bob—loud, emotional, animated—but we left each Sunday with the weight of our sin increased; our sense of unworthiness magnified. Hope was never proffered to our souls.

Thank you for a very fine loving and evangelical post!

Lol I'm sorry but this was completely irrelevant.. I find it quite amusing though that being in a college, I find middle aged men who still want the last word. And not to be out of line but if there is a working copy of logos on an android even though it's in the alpha stage, there must be a timeline at least internally.. I as well have been patiently waiting and checking the site every day..

You know the poster who was viewed as out of line?
Welcome to the forums. If you haven't read the guidelines, you may wish to do so. Although some threads go a bit off course - humor or anger - we generally stay on the topic of how to use Logos products,

Yes, I'm guessing they do have a rough idea of how much longer they need. But it's likely wrong. Software development estimates for first-time implementations of things are notoriously wrong. Anyway, they are not going to release an internal timeline. It would not be strategically beneficial to them.
However, here's the latest teaser from Logos developer Dave Dunkin:
The fact that they are testing it on a new device is a good sign. It means they are getting to the configuration testing stage. It can't be too much longer now. I doubt there will be a public beta test, as there wasn't one for the iPhone app. So I think we're just going to have to hold on until it's ready for shipping. It's probably a matter of weeks now, not months. But this is totally speculation on my part from having worked in software development before.
