Damian?

Damian:
Just a short note to see if you and yours are okay. We have read about the relative safety of those living in your area - but also of the destruction that you experienced. I (and I expect others) will keep you in prayer.
Blessings,

Seems that most of the power is out and many cell phone towers are damaged so Damian may not be able to communicate for a while.
However, ABC news report everyone seems to be OK...

I got an email from Damian:
"...all is well here in ingham queensland. Lots of
damage, no power, no water, but no loss of life. Please thank those who were
praying for us.

That is great to hear. Thanks, Bob. And what an awesome user community that we'd care so much about one of our members that he would be able to email the company CEO (maybe Bob emailed him first and asked if he was OK?) who would let us all know how he's doing.

Damian,
Amen! I'm so thankful that you're okay. I will continue to keep you and your fellow country persons in my prayers.

Dear all,
I am, as previously expressed via Bob, deeply grateful for all of your prayers over the last week.
I had power restored to me tonight, thanks to the fact that one of the chief local power guys is a parishioner.
There was one death due to the cyclone and he was one of my parishioners, a 23 year old who was running his generator in the same room in which he was bunkered down. A sad and completely avoidable tragedy. As of yet, I don't know when I can bury him as our cemetery is a mess and the concrete factory is out of action.
Currently, I have seven funerals waiting for me.... I am unable to bury them or entomb them until the cemetery is opened. Three of these funerals were cancelled before the cyclone - the poor families are waiting and waiting. One of the families lost their mother before the cyclone and their father had a major heart attack afterwards - it will be my first double funeral - a fact which brings me no joy.
Parts of my parish were, in fact, hit by the worst of the cyclone - winds of 320 kn/hr. A number of my parishioners have lost their homes.... Not as many as further north but still enough to wear us all down....
I have a boarding school with 164 indigenous lads in residence. They have been phenomenal - working in their region, clearing trees and helping families.
One of our primary schools has received extensive damage - we're not sure when or how we will reopen. The remaining three schools did well.
While my church and house were left basically untouched, the local Anglican (episcopalian) church was totally shredded by the cyclone. I have offer them the use of our church for as long as they need it. They will be celebrating the first funeral post-cyclone in my church this Friday.
Again, your prayers sustained me.
God Bless

Dear Damian,
I am so glad to hear from you, but am grieved that the one death in all of Australia from this cyclone was someone in your parish. What a heavy heart you must have, with all that your people have gone through. Praise God that he spared your house and church so that you can be able to offer assistance to others. We'll continue to lift you up as you make it through these tough days and weeks of clean-up and mourning ahead.
In His grip,
Rosie

Thanks Rosie,
Today I reached the end of my tether.... Visiting my people and seeing their houses destroyed has been very hard... I've done so little physical labour compared with so many others but the emotional labour is definitely as tiring...
And, of course, spending time with the mother of the lad who died wore me down even more....
I'd love a night off, a day away, but I can't leave my people at this time.
God Bless
Damian

Damian,
May the Lord our God who is rich in grace and mercy through the Lord Jesus Christ enable you and grant rest for your soul in the turbulent aftermath of the storm.
Heavenly Father, we join in the name and authority of Jesus Christ as a distant community this day to offer up gratitude for your glory and your grace; to give thanks for your promise to sustain those who take their rest in you. But we yearn all the more for your gracious Spirit to give to Damian what the physical cannot now permit: true rest. Guard his heart, hold closely his mind and grant merciful refreshing upon his troubled spirit as he reaches out to so many as a conduit of your grace to offer the peace of Christ to others who are troubled around him.
Let the anchor of Christ hold him against the strain. Father in mercy and love for Damian and the many he serves we join our hearts and ask for Your Mighty Strength to flow in and through him for the sake of your glory and the glory of your name.
Amen.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

I am so overwhelmed by that thought that I don't know what to say, except that I will continue to pray for you. I once was involved in 9 funerals in 16 weeks, so I can empathize just a little with you.

Damian we will still keep praying for you that God would use you to encourage hopeless people. I know that many people ask you "why this happened to us?". May the Lord give you the wisdom to bring the hope and courage.
Gen 50:20 As (Devil) "meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive"
We pray that God would turn this disaster into salvation of many. God bless you Damian [Y]

It was well publicised in Australia. The burden of any death is very hard, so my heart reaches out to you and to the family of that person.
God bless you,
