i have built a Word document which has a list of links to Charts found in the ESV Study Bible.

Word file with links to charts: 3678.ESVSB Charts for notes.doc

here are instructions that work in the windows version of Logos4.

Download the Word file from the above link and open it, then

1.  Use your mouse to drag over some of the text in Word to select it. Then right click on the selected text.
   a.  Word shows a pop-up menu, click on Copy.

2.  In Logos4, click on File in the top menu
  a.  In the drop down menu click on Notes to open a new note file.

3.  Now you see the Note file.
  a.  Click on Add note to add a note to the Note file.

4.  Logos4 adds a new blank note.
   a.  Right click in the note body, Logos4 shows a pop-up menu, click on Paste (to paste what you copied in step #1.

5. Now hover your mouse over a link, Logos4 shows a preview.
  a.  Notice at the bottom of the preview are instructions. Hold the Ctrl key down and left click on the link.

6.  Logos4 opens the ESV study Bible to the link location which should be close to the chart.

  • Don't forget to name your new Note file.

Thanks Steve,

I've added both of these to my favorites (2X) under "Charts & Maps" and under "Maps & Charts" (I just know I'm going to go looking for one of these in the other category).

One further tip.  Open your note file, if you created one, for the Maps & Charts.  Open your ESV Study Bible.    If you go to the table of contents in the ESV Study Bible and right click on the heading CONTENTS and select add a note to the note file on the maps, it will add a link from there to your note file.  Then drag that note to the top of the file (it takes a while).  Then in that note, type something like "Link to the table of contents".  The go to the resource menu of the ESVSB and click on url.  The go to the file and highlight(select) "Link to the table of contents".  Then right click in the hyperlink box of your note file and paste.  "Link to the table of contents" should have turned blue and become a hyperlink to open the ESV Study Bible table on contents which has other hyperlinks to chapters, illustrations etc.  And if you are in the ESV Study Bible, you can go to the table of contents (by holding down the right click button on your mouse while in the resource and make a "c" movement.) and click on your colored note box and it will open your note file on maps.  You are now linked both ways between your note file and the ESVSB table of contents.  Here is a screen shot of the finished product.  It should make Steve Clark's idea a little easier to use.  If you need clearer instructions, feel free to ask.

I followed these instructions, and can link from Word to the ESVSB and added the link to the ESVB to the notes file created.

The first time I use notes I can link to the ESVB bible by hovering over the link,

But the second time, my notes file gets into a mode where when I hover it does not go to the link.

It seems to go into an "edit" mode.

This is on a Mac.

Richard DeRuiter:

Richard,

I've been trying to accomplish this - but Favorites does not permit pasting in links.  The only method I've discovered that works is to

  • CTRL+Click to load the resource
  • and then click the add button
  • rename the link.
Is that what you did or is there a better way?

What I have linked in my favorites are the note files with the maps and charts, not the individual links to the maps. Clicking the name of the note file opens that file just fine for me.
