Help Needed! Unable to start Logos4
Hi guys,
I need some help here. Just purchased logos4 three days ago and was looking forward to install it.
But after I install the prerequistes and the program, it went into an error. Meaning, I could not even reach the point where I gave my account details. I tried to press ctrl for a report but nothing comes up. All I get is this from the log file

There seems to be an error in collecting information from me. I am currently using a netbook with ATOM dual 1.66GHz Ram 2G. Doesn't seem like it being a netbook that affects the installation.

What version of .NET do you have installed? Have you verified your security settings? I'm fishing because it's not obvious to me what the problem is.

I have 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 for the .NET. What do you mean by verifying security settings?

.NET is most likely to be the issue (though there's not enough error info to be certain). I would:
- Do a repair of the relevant .NET installations for your O/S.
- Looking in the Windows error log to see if you can find more detail of the error.
- Report back your findings.
If you don't know how to do any of the above, just ask.

How do I find more detail of the error? I can't seem to get the diagnostic logging to work even after referring to the wiki guide.

If the problem is with .NET, often the error will occur before diagnostic logging begins. Therefore you need to look at the Windows Event Viewer (type event viewer into the Start menu search).
Once event viewer is loaded, you're looking for the Application log, which is probably in the Windows Logs folder. Find the error in the log and the click on the Event Log Online Help (the text is slightly different in earlier versions of Windows), to be taken to a web page that may help more. You could also copy and paste the error message onto the forum.

Does this mean that its .NET 2.0 causing the problem? I tried to repair the issue but it still gave me the problem.

It's not certain that .NET is causing the problem, but it is likely. These are the steps I would take (assuming Vista or Windows 7):
- Make sure Windows Update is up-to-date.
- Try and repair .NET 2.0 and 3.0 using the steps here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2007/03/26/how-to-repair-the-net-framework-2-0-and-3-0-on-windows-vista.aspx
- If that doesn't solve the problem, repair .NET 3.5 and 4.0 using the steps here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/08/28/8904493.aspx
If that still doesn't solve the problem, uninstall Logos, and the Pre-Requisites, and report back here.
