The release notes for 4.2a report the ability to summon CBV in a floating window from within other applications.
As yet I haven't been able to successfully summon the floating window in MS Word for Mac 2008, despite having followed the instructions in the release notes...
Services
Does the 'etc.' include MS Office for Mac 2008? Anyone else had success with this?
Update: works in Pages 08, but not MS Word 2008.
In developing this feature, I found that Office 2008 does not support or use the services menu at all.
It does work with Office 2011
I suspect that Word 2008 does not use a cocoa TextField or TextView which provide the logic to interact with the services menu. It is possible to use the services menu without these, but Microsoft did not code that up in Office 2008

Thanks for the response and explanation Glenn. That's a big shame, as I don't think I'll be upgrading to 2011 anytime soon.
It is an excellent feature though. Thanks for your hard work.

I might be displaying my ignorance about coding here, but is there way to manually 'code it up' in Office 2008?

There is not.

David Mitchell:There is not.
Nuff said.
Why can't you just make a shortcut key so that you can copy a verse(s) formatted into the clipboard. The clipboard, I believe, works universally with all programs.
