Update Crash

A message this morning ... 75Mb of updates available (perhaps a new Beta [<:o)] ???).
The downloaded and the updater started bouncing on the dock.
'An update is ready ... click OK to install.'
'Ready to Install ... Install and relaunch'
Update Error! An error occurred while installing the update. Please try again later. ... Cancel Update.
Restarting Logos now reloads the updater ... straight to 'Install and Relaunch' ... straight to the 'Update Crash'
I cannot load L4Mac because it is stuck in this loop.

One additional thing ... After cancelling the update ... the updater app stays 'live' in the dock. It does not quit when the update is canceled. It has not crashed in the OS X sense since I can use the context menu and quit normally.

New Logos 4 Mac 4.3 Beta 1 (4.30.0.0130) released. Noted logs show 4.2a SR-1 installed.

Please try Update Error steps after restarting Mac (on Mac Troubleshooting page) - please choose current Beta to download.
If error repeats, please post logs using How to Report Bugs in Logos 4 Mac steps
Caution: use at own risk - found an old Logos 4 Mac Alpha 10 Pre-Release forum thread that appears similar => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/9471/75280.aspx#75280 - learned inside UpdateManager folder is updates.db file. When Logos 4 Mac is not running, If updates.db file is renamed or deleted, next time Logos 4 Mac launches updates.db will be created: all resources will be checked for updates (so Preparing Library for Download appears on screen for awhile), likely to be followed by some indexing (blue Logos icon on menu bar). Recommend minimal use of Logos 4 while indexing in progress (personally choose to read some in one resource). Once indexing done, clicked sync arrows, wanted to see sync complete with issue.
Caution: use at own risk

I can verify that I am having the same problem ... the update crashes, even after following the steps outlines in above post. Never have had this problem with a Beta install.

I am having the same problem. I am wondering if it might be related to the fact that I switched to the "default" channel to get service release 1 and 2 (SR-1, SR-2) and then switched back to the "beta" channel? Is Logos not installing because I don't have the version number v4.21.5.0585 (I now have v4.21.5.0906)?

You can add another one that is having the same problem. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. However, I can cancel the update and quit the installer and the program will load for me. It remains the stable version: Logos Bible Software 4.2a SR-2 (4.21.5.0906) (Update Channel: beta).

Same problem here as well.

After reading all these posts I stopped my update. This is no coincidence. Were all those that crashed updating from the "stable" version?

I was updating from RC3, which dropped yesterday, so yes.

There might be a temporary workaround here http://community.logos.com/forums/p/31419/233430.aspx#233430

I have not strayed from the beta channel. I was happy with the stability with the last Beta.
I am not sure what the 75Mb is. I have not seen anything to suggest that it is the next Beta yet if it was the SR then I should not have seen it.

The issue appears to be a result of a recent change to our build process. The updater attempts to verify that it is upgrading to a newer version of the app and is getting confused by what it thinks is an earlier version.
We'll work to resolve this soon. In the meantime, at the time that Logos asks to update, you should find a dmg in <User folder>/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Data/<weird string of characters>/Update Manager/Installers. This dmg will have the newest beta in it, and if you install it manually, everything should work fine.
Sorry for the mistake!

I was having the same problem, but manually installed as described above, and everything is working fine now.
