Since upgrading to the new beta (Logos Bible Software 4.3 Beta 1 (4.30.0.0130)) I have encountered 3 problems. The first is that every morning when I go to start Logos the program will give me the signin and then freezes. I do a force quit and restart and it works. (Logs from the last time below).

Second problem I have encountered is that when I type a reference to go to another location in the Bible, sometimes it does not take me to the right place. It depends on the speed in which I type in the reference and hit return. If I am too quick (seldom happens) it will only take me to the new book. More often than not it will take me to the book and chapter but give me verse 1 of that chapter. If I wait till the pop-up shows the entire reference before hitting return, then I get to the right place. It is a little aggravating but have started to learn to slow down and wait for the pop-up.

The third (I think it has been reported before) is that the links do not work at first. Have several Bible's linked together but when I go from one to another, the link has not worked and I have to again type the reference and go there.

This has been reported and acknowledged by Melissa. I cannot get the links to work at all. This has driven me back to L4 Win as most layouts have multiple linked windows.

I have also encountered this problem. Many times the system simply resets to the original address.

You are not alone here either. Have experienced freezes under varying conditions, which I have faithfully reported.

I can verify having the 2nd problem as well.

I can confirm 2 and 3. Also a tendency to crash which I am taking badly after months of rock-solid stability.

Regarding #2, the solution, for now, is get out of the habit of hitting Return immediately after typing your reference.

Just give it a moment for the reference to show up in the pop-down list. THEN hit Return, and you will be taken to the correct location.

This seems to be a problem with the command bar also. Until you see the result of your command in the pop-down list, hitting Return doesn't necessarily run the command.

That does not always work for me. I seldom type an address in the Command Bar, but use the field in the Locator Bar at the top of each pane. 4.3 Beta 1 for Mac still prefers to remain where it was.

For me, this release makes L4 Mac completely unusable for serious Bible Study. When I must spend 90% my time trying to make the application work, I become so frustrated that I simply fire up Parallels and use L4 Win (4.3 Beta 1) which does not have these problems.

Yes, Jack, this beta is a seriously retrograde step IMHO.

I await developments, trusting that as usual our Mac developers will come up with fixes very soon. Pizza Coffee

Every blessing

Same frustration as all of you. I downgraded to 4.2a SR-2 to be able to get anything done for school. Too many papers due right now to struggle with this beta. Hope to go back when it's just a little more stable again.

Agreed, but... all the new bugs popping up in so many places seems to imply, at least, that a lot of work is being done to improve various parts of L4Mac. It could be that many of the bugs are a cascade from one or two problems in the code, but it seems a bit too widespread for that. As this is beta 1, the fixes are sure to come and with it, I suspect (hope), some nice improvements.

I hope so also. I had SR-3 installed on my laptop, so I copied it to the desktop. Now, I can avoid Parallels and Windows again. Yes

I think I live in a parallel universe. This program has really been a dog for me for ever since I first installed it on my MacBook Air in the fall. But this is the first time that I would say it has been stable and actually responsive.

Which version? Stable or Beta?

On my MBP i7 this is stable but it has become extremely sluggish, with the passage guide taking at least 3 times as long to function. I have no idea what has happened and am glad some are finding beta 2 great but the performance has made me seriously consider switching to stable to regain a usable speed.

Wow! I had forgotten the reason I asked the question. I'm pleased you are getting good service. Beta 1 was a real dog for me, and Beta 2 will not recognize my login information. Thus, I cannot tell how it will work. Melissa said the login problem will be fixed with the next Beta, so I will jump in then. 4.2a SR-4 is working rather well for me right now, but I am ready for adventure, so bring on Beta 3. Geeked

I still think you have a lot of Macs for a PC. Big Smile

I have had all the three of the problems identified in the original post. Also, it may be my imagination, but I seem to be getting a lot more of the old evil 'spinning beach ball' than I have had for quite some time now (with both Beta 1 and Beta 2). It seems to be especially common when scrolling text. Has anyone else noticed this?
