How do I search for information on the chronology of Jesus' passion week?

I have almost 1,000 books in my Logos 4 library, but I can't seem to zero in on this topic. I'm looking for some discussion of the timing of events that happened from the time Jesus left Jericho to the Crucifixion. When I use terms I've used in this post's title, I get a lot of fragmented bits and pieces (like appear in commentaries) and even more irrelevant stuff. Any suggestions?
Have a great day,

The best sources I know are unfortunately not available in Logos. A little book by Hoehner called "Chronological Aspects of the Life of Christ"is great. He did extensive work on chronology as part of the work on his European doctorate. He deals with the options. The second book in J. D. Pentecost's "Words and Works of Jesus Christ." It presents a well thought out chronology.
We need to get both of these resources in Logos format.

I went directly to a source that I knew would have info: the IVP Dictionary of Jesus and the Gospels, and I found an entry on "Chronology", and it has a section devoted to the death of Jesus.
That's when I discovered that searching for chronology Jesus life returned a good selection of hits.

do you have Edersheim's Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah? Try this link.

These sound like good resources. I also have hardback version of "Handbook of Biblical Chronology" by Jack Finegan, which really goes into depth about various issues related to timing, but I think he makes a serious blunder when it comes to the timing of the Crucifixion week. I'll see if I can get the ones you mentioned.Frank Fenby said:The best sources I know are unfortunately not available in Logos. My mistake, I do have it. When I did a library search that includes "ivp dictionary" Logos 4 doesn't show the work, but a search for "dictionary of Jesus..." does show it.

On topics.logos.com there are links to websites compiled by MJ Smith to Passion week. (http://topics.logos.com/Passion). I haven't looked into any of them but you may want to check them out.

In Jesus and the Gospels: An Introduction and Survey, Blomberg gives a short bibliography of resources on Chronology of Jesus, which includes Hoehner's work:

Sorry, it would have helped if I had linked directly to the resource:

Seeing as how Passion Week is fast approaching I started a Reading List to the topic.

Try this search:
"passion week" NEAR (chronology, timing, sequence)
It came up with 34 very relevant hits in my library. Other similar searches that pick up a few more good hits are:
"the passion" NEAR (chronology, timing, sequence)
"Jesus' passion" NEAR (chronology, timing, sequence)
I thought I should be able to combine these all into one search:
("passion week", "the passion", "Jesus' passion" ) NEAR (chronology, timing, sequence)
But that didn't work. It treated NEAR as one of the search terms.
Some of the best hits I found were these:

Note that several of the articles referenced in those bibliographies are in JBL, the Journal of Biblical Literature, which is in prepub and shipping later this month. Order it now to get a great price on it. It'll jump way up after it ships; currently targeted for April 29 (might slip a bit from that if history is a good guide, but don't wait too long).

A little book by Hoehner called "Chronological Aspects of the Life of Christ"is great. He did extensive work on chronology as part of the work on his European doctorate. He deals with the options.
Rosie's post reminded me that Hoehner's work is available in Logos in the Bibliotheca Sacra archives.

Jaubert,
A. (...) The
Date of the Last Supper. Staten Island, NY: Alba House, 1965.This has been on my reading list for quite some time. I've had it recommended and it's supposed to be a classic. As I understand it she argues that Jesus celebrated Passover on Tuesday evening according to the old calendar, and died at the time the Passover lambs were being slaughtered on Friday according to the new calendar. Solves both the Synoptic-Johannine discrepancies and the shortage of time for all those trials. I've also planned to suggest it to Logos. I guess now would be a good time to do that. (EDIT: here's the link to the suggestion.)
There's a miniature version called The Calendar of Qumran and the Passion Narrative in John, in James H Charlesworth: John and Qumran. Geoffrey Chapman, London 1972. p 62-75. That one I've actually got a copy of, I just still haven't taken the time to read it.

Keep Smiling
Yes, it does, way too many, and it is surely missing out on some of the most useful ones, because it highlights near as one of the search terms. So it's only finding articles that have one of the terms in the leftmost set parentheses and the word "near" and one of the terms in the rightmost set of parentheses. And they might not all be near each other.
Weird... I was going to take a screenshot of this to show you how near was getting highlighted in my results, but when I tried it again I couldn't reproduce it. Oh well, some weird glitch, or maybe I had a typo in my search.
Yup...I had a typo. I just looked back at my saved searches, and I'd put one of the commas inside the double quotes. Oops! [:$]

Rosie's post reminded me that Hoehner's work is available in Logos in the Bibliotheca Sacra archives.

Thank you for that link. I started a note file for these articles as you (?) noted doing in that thread. [Y]

Some of the best hits I found were these:
International Standard Bible Encyclopedia, the article on "Preparation, Day of"
An article called "The Chronology of the Last Supper" in Westminster Theological Journal, vol. 53, no. 1.
Thanks the search strings were quite helpful. I don't have the resources you liked best, but perhaps I can get them at a local seminary library.
On a general note, whether it's best or not, after 15 months of using Logos 4 I find myself resisting it to do general topical searches. Very seldom can I figure out the best or most exact terminology and combinations that result in good results (like you did). In fact, I find myself just gravitating toward web searches, yet I know that my own Logos library has more trustworthy/scholarly sources (plus I paid for them). It would be nice if Logos could classify/tag content by a wide variety of loose topical descriptions (not just the topic headings found in the resources as was done prior to L4).
I sure appreciate everyone's help and quick response to my query.
Have a great day,
