Is there any way to open two or more instances of Logos on the same pc?

Is there any way to open two or more instances of Logos on the same pc? If not someone really needs to figure out a way.

Not that I know of.
Can you give an example of why you'd like this capability?

I don't know why you would need to have two separate Logos4 open at the same time. You can open multiple windows of the same resources within Logos4 (hold the Ctrl down when selecting resource from you library...or hold Ctrl down while you drag the resource from the library panel to your Logos desktop layout.
Not sure, but I think there would be a problem with the sync of them having two L4 programs open on the same computer at the same time (probably why it can't be done).
You can have Libronix3 and Logos4 open at the same time though since they run independently of each other.
The question would be, why do you want two instances open at the same time? What are you wanting to accomplish?

You can have a sort of multiple instances by opening floating windows. That allows for multiple window capability, in addition to multiple tab capability.

Foy,
Praiser didn't use the term you'll see in the program but do you know how to open floating windows? You can use them to simulate having multiple occurrences of Logos running.

Not an advisable procedure. Formerly, I would have two instances open on my Mac—one copy of L4 Mac and one of L4 Win with Parallels. I had even opened a third instance on my MBP (Mac Book Pro). I stopped this when I began to experience synch problems, the most serious being duplicate notes.
Also, I really can't imagine why you would want to do this.

Floating windows and ability to have them persist in multiple monitors was the exact reason I jumped *FAST* from L3 to L4--even in it's infancy. I really love that Logos will even rebuild them via LAYOUT. I've never looked back.
... I wish Intuit would see the value in this kind of approach and write Quicken to work the same way...

Concur with sync issues between two or more open instances of Logos 4 (have experienced surprises when changing priorities in one Logos 4 library while another one was open to library priorities; had some priority changes automatically reverting back after syncing).
While technically feasible (to open two or more Logos 4 instances for the same library); practically wonder why ?
By the way, running two instances of Logos 4 (stable and beta) with two Logos users (different libraries) works fine. Potential use is remote desktop access for one library while a different Logos user sits at computer using a different library.

I want to open multiple instances of logos because I am studying different items with different layouts as I see fit and when I require it. a simple program like eSword would allow me to do that, but I am heavily invested in Logos. It really bugs me when other say, why do you need to do that? There is a need for it and Logos 10 is currently not fulfilling that need.

Please don't take offense. If we know what you are trying to achieve, we may have other solutions that get you what you need but in a different way. Logos is not designed for multiple occurrences on the same machine but one can run Logos and Verbum on the same machine giving you two copies. Any more than that will start providing undesired interaction between the copies as many features sync across all installations, save state parameters at the book, tool, or device level so you can open to the last used state, etc. Simple programs can run multiple copies because they don't have the sync and state issues. besides run Logos and Verbum, you likely can you floating windows as alternative layouts for your other functions. I would have to know what you are trying to do and why to provide more detailed advice.

I would guess that Patrick is looking for what Accordance software calls "Workspaces," (TheWord has a similar function) where you can open as many as you want, even several of the same one. I would like to see Logos have something similar to that, for my triple monitor display. I know floating a window is similar, but not as easy as just opening a set of resources alongside another set.

These requested have not risen to the top of the users' priorities. Vote if they matter to you:

I would like to open two instances of Logos. If I am studying in Acts, I may also want to look up references in another instance so I can compare information on one desktop to what is displayed on another desktop. Not sure I can properly explain what I mean. At present, as I study in Logos, I also open eSword for references, but eSword doesn't have anywhere near the capability of Logos for word study etc.
