Hi Fellow Users
I did a search of the site using the phrase "Minimum Specifications" but couldn't find any hits that might give me a clue as to the minimum specifications for a pc to run L4. I am a Scholar's Library 3 user.
I have a Windows 2000 machine with a 1GHZ AMD single core machine with 1GB of RAM and 12GB of spare HD space. Is this sufficient?
Cheers
Tony

But I would say no way would that be sufficient for V4. You may be able to get it to run on the processor and Ram, though it would be bogged down and slow to respond. The HDD space would never make it though. You would be pretty close to maxed out if not get the no room to install errors...

I just noticed that this page changed since I read it yesterday, when it stated 12GB min free hard drive free space.
With RAM so cheap and so essential to system performance, moving to 2GB will almost certainly help you, especially when you have several apps open at once.

One more correction. The system requirement page does not appear to be available at this moment. The link above is useless, it is for Logos 3.
Sorry for the confusion.

Guess what I found?

I don't think Windows 2000 does .NET 3.5, which is required for Logos 4. Your HD space could also be an issue with a large collection.

Ken: Yes, according to this http://tinyurl.com/ys6wao .net 3.5 requires Win XP and up. Whilst my current rig works fine for everything else it looks like it might be a couple of years before I upgrade to L4
As far as HD space goes, I'm already a Scholars Library user so the 12GB is what's free with that already installed; unless you are saying that once the SL resources have been upgraded its going to eat up all that free space too
Thank's Scott: After reading that min. system requirement page, I think you're correct: its for L3. The specs don't match the anecdotes on this forum which suggests minimum spec should look like:
1.5+ GHZ CPU2+ GB RAMGobs of HD space but that depends on what is in one's resource library.
I wonder if L4 has a way of reducing the system demands by turning off any fancy graphics stuff (not that I have seen in working yet). Reading stories of indexing taking 10+ hours makes you wonder if that can be set to low priority and pauses whenever it detects if someone is using their computer. X1 Desktop Search does that.
Anyway thanks for your help everyone. I'll keep an eye on the system requirements link to see when it gets updated.
Ooops: I omitted Win XP.
Just to finish this discussion off:I see that Logos have posted an updated minimum system requirements page: http://www.logos.com/support/techfaq#sysreqs
