Upgrading And Receiving Little Or No Value

There is need for Logos to address the concerns of persons who Upgrade especially from Logos 3 to Logos 4 but receive little or no value for the Upgrade compared to others because most of the so called Resources they are getting in Logos 4 as new have already been purchased by them as single/separate items before the Upgrade. An example in my case is that most of the Commentaries I have already Purchased singly are marked as what I am getting New in the Upgrade. The truth is that I got nothing. Only Logos got the fresh additional Dollars. Not fair

The upgrade page has long been known to mark as new, what users already have. That page only accounts for base packages.

However, according to Logos, the price one pays does take into account all your purchases.

The best way to confirm this is by a call (phone # on web site) or email to sales (sales@logos.com).

I'm sorry you didn't feel the resources you got in the upgrade to L4 were worth the cost. The are some resources, such as the Reverse Interlinears on numerous Bibles, the new Biblical People/Places database and so on and so forth that you did receive in the upgrade because they weren't available before in Libronix.

I realize that these resources may not be helpful to you and you may not want them but it simply is not true that you got absolutely nothing in the upgrade.

I invite you to carefully review your purchase history against the upgrade page and look at what titles you did receive in the upgrade and honestly ask if the upgrade cost is worth it. As Richard suggests you can also contact CS to verify that your previous purchases reduced your upgrade cost. If at the end of the day you think it isn't worth it you can always ask for a refund.

Uchechi what Kevin was trying to explain to you is that it is NOT Logos' policy to charge you for resources in an upgrade that you already have. He suggested a way to research this. If that is not acceptable, you have two choices - you can complain about a perceived injustice, or you can pick up the phone and call Logos sales and they will walk through it with you - your library, your purchase, your upgrade price. Their President, Bob Pritchett, has also said many times to email him if we as customers don't receive satisfaction - bob@logos.com. He will likely have someone from Sales work through it with you as well. Either Logos made a mistake with your transaction, which they will then correct, or you will see what you did pay for.

Until proven otherwise by speaking to Logos, who is the ONLY authoritative source on this issue, what you believe has happened is not Logos' policy. If you are unwilling to contact Logos, in my humble opinion you won't get any satisfactory resolution from your postings on the problem here, assuming that is your goal.

Your post strikes me as very rude and into the face of people that tried to help you, even though your double-posted initial question was less than polite. You started with the accusation that Logos "has to do" something about your unique problem. Let me be frank and direct : No they don't. If they offer you an upgrade or any other resource, and you think it's not worth the money: you're free not to buy it. Period.

The users that answered you told you, that Logos nevertheless, in the best interest of their customers, has done something. Since the situation of bundles where one already owns part of is for you

specific to my situation

and this holds true for any other user's library content and buying history as well, this can't be automated, but Logos personnel will look into your secific situation and offer you a deal depending on what you already have - there's numerous posts on the forum where users confirmed that. Again, you are free to accept that offer or decline. You yourself may prepare for such a discussion by checking which "upgrade resources" you already bought that make up the value for the upgrade for other users and thus prepare some arguments to help the Logos people to give you a good discount on the update.

I don't see anybody misunderstanding you, so there's no reason to post like you did.

I know that you feel frustration, but I urge you to speak with more kindness. I think you will be more likely to gain a sympathetic hearing that way. I think the heart of my fellow posters comments is that it would be in your best interest to call Logos on the phone. Many have done so and have been pleased with the results.

I periodically look at upgrading packages (I'm still down at my original OL) and don't see sufficient new resources to make it worth my while relative to the upgrade price. This is not reflective of Logos; only the 'piece of the pie' I'm interested in.

But my impression was the upgrades were independent of what you may have purchased independently, with a chat potentially shaving a little off the price?

If I'm wrong, I'd suspect there might be a few who don't understand.

I'm am sorry that you feel that I replied to you without understanding. I do not think this is the case.

I believe you misunderstood the comparison page. The "New" icon does not mean that the resource is new to you. When Logos released version 4 resources were added and removed from the Scholars, Silver, Gold libraries etc. The New means that those resource are new to that base package, not new to you if you upgrade.

I know it feels like the price of the upgrade should be less because you've paid so much for resources that are now included in the base package. This has happened to me too, but on a lesser scale with BDAG. When Logos announced they were pulling resources from resellers I rushed to buy BDAG from a reseller at a discount because I figured I would pay more for it from Logos.com later on. Unbeknownst to me just a handful of months later Logos 4 was released and the package I wanted (Platinum) had BDAG in it.

The price I paid for the upgrade was less because I owned BDAG but that discount was not as much as I paid for BDAG, and while I didn't like it, it was fair. Why? That is because the cost of BDAG as a portion of the bundle was less than its individual price. In hindsight it would have been better to wait for the upgrade but I didn't know about it.

My invitation to you was to take advantage of the Logos refund guarantee by performing due diligence to see if what they were offering was worth the price you paid. If you only use Logos for commentaries then the chances are the answer would be no and you should ask for a refund. I was simply suggesting a productive path forward.

I'm sure there are many who don't understand, and we've been asking Logos to fix this inconsistency for a long, long time.

What we have is this statement on the Upgrade Discounter Page: "Your upgrade price takes into consideration the base package you already
own, your Pre-Pub purchase history and more, to calculate a custom
upgrade discount specifically for you. Although we can’t reveal “the
secret sauce” we can assure you that these prices represent the best
upgrade discounts available to you and take into account your purchase
history."

The problem is that the page shows many items as "New" that a user may already own, thus the confusion and, often, frustration.

The issue of just a few commentaries and other 'fluff' is sometimes a bit deceptive. Some of those resources and commentary sets are really quite expensive when purchased separately. If one were to go through one's purchases and add up the actual cost of what one doesn't have, the total cost would invariably be more than the price shown on the calculator.

If that's not the case for you, or if you suspect that's not the case for you, then the only smart thing to do is to take it up with Logos sales (either by phone or email). Things to slip through the cracks from time to time and it's possible that there is an issue on their end. Sometimes 3rd party purchases (i.e., buying Logos resources from someone other than Logos) can be the issue, other times, the problem is buying with more than one user ID.

Bottom line: If you think the price on the upgrade page is too high for you for any reason, contact Logos sales.
