I am not sure if this will be of any interest to anyone, but I have uploaded a .docx of George Herbert's The Country Parson. It is tagged and formatted (with headwords for some of the pertinent sections) and should, therefore, compile successfully via the PBB tool in L4.

I have also attached a portrait of G. Herbert (I used this for the thumbnail in Logos) and the jpeg of the folio frontsheet (if the image doesn't appear in the PBB, you may need to save the image on your hard drive and reinsert it via the insert image function in Word).

I took the trouble to bookmark and hyperlink each Bible reference to the index at the rear of the book in the hope (rather than expectation) that this might transfer into L4. Unfortunately this did not work. If anyone has any ideas how to rectify this, I will take a second pass and try and fix it. [Edit: now fixed with Dominic's workaround.]

I presume there are no problems in making this available (I understand that Logos do not currently offer this resource), please let me know if this is not the case and I will pull the post. (I couldn't see anything preventing sharing .docx in the forum guidelines.)

Andy

Edit: Corrected a few minor issues with broken hyperlinks from the index (it should now take you to the top of the relevant passage). I have also gone with Dominic's colour scheme (black headers throughout).

Thank you very much. This would be a good post to go into the Files forum. It's not been used much in the past but this would be a good time to start consolidating the templates and .docx files into a single forum.

Hi MJ,

I overlooked the Files forum. Is there anyway of moving this post into the more appropriate forum at this stage? I can see that I can edit my original post, but cannot see an option to move the strand.

Thanks Andy,

I downloaded to use as an exercise in compiling a PB.  It worked perfectly and looks interesting!

Unfortunately we can't move them, we have to repost them. It would be nice if the individuals who have provided indexes to multi-volume resources, templates for PB's, macros for PBs and Logos4 would all report in the file forums. If they do, I'm willing to build a wiki pages (or add them to the web resources reading list) to link to them. If others think its more appropriate to have them more directly in the wiki, I'm certainly willing to entertain other solutions.

Things I remember seeing:

  • two macros for Logos
  • bibliography link
  • index to Early Church Fathers, maps & charts(?)
  • PB templates - Bible, Dictionary, links to Guides

I apologize to everyone for the great work I don't remember. I'll blame my memory on my only being half-way through my first cup of coffee.

Hi Dominic,

I was trying to fix the index so that the reference (e.g. Matthew 6:14) hyperlinks to the exact place where it is cited in Hebert's text (in this case, Chap. XII, The Parson's Charity). The hyperlinks to the bookmarks work within the Word document, but, unfortunately, haven't translated to the PB. Your amendments are definitely better than the bookmarks because they actually do something. I would be interested to know, however, how one adds a link from one point within a PB to another point within the same PB. Do you know whether this can be done?

I prefer the Chapter headings  in black, by the way, and have updated the PB in my library accordingly.

Thanks again for your kind advice with this.

Andy

I only know how to do it using Headwords

put [[@Headword:ZZZ-Anchor2]] immediately after the destination

[[yourtext >> Headword:ZZZ-Anchor2]] to reference it

I have NEVER got word hyperlinks working right, and for now have abandoned using them

Thanks, Dominic, I'll give it a whirl.

I have not yet tried it... but...

I believe that you must build the book first. Then you go to the section you want to hyperlink to and then you click on the "copy location as URL." I just tried it in a book I am working on. I navigated to a section without any milestones, and clicked on the URL button. When I entered the URL into my web browser, Logos opened the resource up to the location I was at. (I double checked this by moving the resource back to the beginning. it worked).

Thanks for this Dominic, it is a very acceptable workaround. I have amended the file attached to my original post accordingly. I have also gone with black headers as per your version.

Thanks again for your help.

Hi Alabama,

I had just finished updating the .docx via Dominic's workaround as you posted.

Thank you very much for the tip, I am going to work on something a bit more complex next (perhaps Donne's Holy Sonnets, if I can get the formatting right) and will give your approach a try. I'd be grateful if you could report back should you discover any problems with this approach or should you identify a better way.

Thanks again for your kind advice and assistance. It is appreciated.

Andy

Hi MJ,

I will repost the .docx and images on in the Files forum, but will first wait for this thread to die (just to save the potential confusion of two near identical posts floating around at the same time).

I think it is an excellent idea to collect all the PBB related stuff together.

Thanks again,

Andy

Stephen, while we eagerly await a sharing feature from Logos, MJ has suggested we use the FILES forum to share  all the PB files, templates, etc.  I believe you'll find a good home for your books there.

DOCX's could be posted in the Files section of the Forums? That way they could be easily browsed, at least until something better comes along...

Hi Dominick,

I reposted the zip file in the appropriate section of the Forum, here, at MJ's suggestion,

http://community.logos.com/forums/t/37525.aspx

I missed that there is a dedicated thread for files and by the time I noticed, it was too late to delete this thread.

Thanks for picking up on this.

Andy
