I've managed to totally break Logos

HI there,
I've managed to break Logos to the point where it won't load. All I did was open the Verb River and then drag and drop this to the shortcut bar. This cause Logos to exit and now it won't load at all. Restarting the PC didn't work either. I'm guessing that I need to remove this item from my shortcut bar - but how? I've tried looking around in my data location but I don't want to fiddle too much. Any help much appreciated as it won't open at all!
Thanks,
Paul

NO sooner had a said that than I worked out how to fix it by renaming Local\Logos4\documents\<number>\ShortcutsManager\shortcuts.db..

What did you change when you renamed the shortcut? Does it work now?

HI guys,
Here are the full steps I took:
- Start -> Run and in the location box type %APPDATA% and press Ok
- Navigate up one level go to Local\Logos4\Documents\<Random Numer>\ShortcutsManager
- In this directory is a file called shortcuts.db
- rename this file to x_shortcuts.db
- Reopen Logos and it works fine
I'm on Win 7 so not sure if this will work on XP but follow Dave's instructions for the first 2 steps. Hope this helps,
Paul0 -
In general try holding Ctrl key and starting L4. Choose blank layout, Sign In and see how you go from there (you should be able to select a layout dated prior to the disasterous event).

Great! I've done it again! [:'(]...CRASH...[:'(]
Was dragging a command prompt to the short-cut bar and managed to crash V4 again and it keeps crasing when I try and open it... (I thought the prob was fixed, because I had seen today where people were doing similar things, or so I thought)
I went through and tried to rename that file again, to no avail...
Any suggestions????

Jeremiah,
I'm sorry you're having that problem. I am not afflicted with that issue. In the long run you'll have to await the fix Jacob Carpenter mentioned, probably in SR6 if I had to guess.
For now, Look at Paul Meathrel's repair steps near the start of this post. It involves deleting shortcuts.db.

I am certainly aflicted! I had gone through that particualr "repair" process last Friday. I went back today, and tried it again (it was already renamed to the x_shortcuts.db) naming it z_shortcuts.db, but it didn't help. I'm goign to try and restart my comp to see if that helps.
Thank you for your speeeeedy response Thomas... [au] <---

file renamed and computer restarted... still crashing...
I was trying to add a command prompt to the shortcut bar that had something to do with periscopes... Now if I am remembering correctly, that is what caused it the last time. I had already added some things today to the shortcut bar (including other command prompts), so figured it was worked out.... obviously not.... and I should have made sure first.
but now, even renaming that file does not do it for me. Maybe a Logos Techy will read this and be able to figure it out...

Try just deleting the shortcuts.db instead of renaming it.
EDIT: Also, note that shortcuts are sync'd items. So start with CTRL held down and turn off online access, create one shortcut that works and then restart the system - I suspect that will help fix it.

Really thought that would work, (just sounded smart) lol... but tried it and it did not... I deleted the file, then CTRL started Logos... Got the "work offline box" clicked that then about 5 secs later got the "stopped working box"
Your suggestion made sense and I don't know why it didn't work.

Didn't work because it wasn't the problem - [:)] Wish I could tell you what is, instead of just trying to be a smart alec.

I have the same problem on my laptop. Renaming the shortcut file doesn't work (SR5). Yet my desktop with the same data, OS and version fails.
