Hi all

Need a bit of help. Sorry if its sounds simple

Searching for Original Sin. If I type in original sin I get all lowercase I get completely different search results than if I type in

Original Sin or "Original Sin" or "original sin"

I think there may be a bug here because as I type I am testing it. Sometimes I get one result, other times I get say 96 results. Just typed all the variations again and now I get 81000 results!!! Why would this change and why did it not search properly the first time?

ps this is a totally clean fully indexed latest version install

Hi Daniel

You may be finding "expected behaviour" but its not totally clear.

If you use original sin and Original Sin you should get the same results unless you have "Match Case" selected in the search options (see for details)

If you enclose the words in double quotes then you are forcing that specific combination of words in sequence, if you omit the double quotes then you are effectively requesting a match if an article is found which contains both word.

So, as you can see, different combinations of these will produce different results.

Does this help to explain what you are seeing?
