Lynden Williams: Lets get this over the top.
Lets get this over the top.
+1. This is so close to the finishing line, but a few resources have overtaken it as of late.
...in since 4/29/2010 @ $45 (don't know why I placed a bid that high back then) - $15 is great!!!

I was in a bookstore today and saw a 1 volume Hastings Dictionary on closeout for more than the 6 volume CP price of $15.
It's a steal. I can't believe it's taken this long to get out of CP.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, this great value resource is sooooooo close!
Any new takers, or anyone willing to up their bid by a few bucks?!
Very true ... (not the broken record part) ... but if the $12 moved to $15, it'd likely hit the 100% and then settle down to $12 again.
$12'ers? How about it?

and

Alexander, I'm kind of surprised at your question. It should be pretty obvious. One has an 'A' (thus indicating it's not 'the' dictionary of the Bible), while the other resource simply is 'Dictionary of the Bible' (allowing the purchaser the use of either 'A' or 'The').
I had the same question and wikipedia has a good discussion: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hastings'_Dictionary_of_the_Bible
Apparently the 5-volume led off in 1898-04. A new SEPARATE 1-volume was issued in 1909. Then in the early 60s, a whole NEW set of authors created ANOTHER 1-volume book (by which time Hastings was long gone). So, altogether, there's actually 3 of them.
The earlier 5-volume has the full discussion from the 'classic authors' if you will.
Now, why someone wants the 1909 1-volume one, vs the 1904 5-volume one I suppose depends on the authors involved.
Just placed my order
Armwood
I've pre-pubbed both. I was just interested as it seemed when I originally looked at ordering that it would be foolish to have both. The 5-volume set seemed to be more comprehensive. I was thinking in terms of Kittels and Little Kittels but apparently they are actually different.
There's a nice plug for this resource in today's blog post.
Hopefully this will generate that little bit more interest to get this resource into production.
Paul, my guess is we'll be over by tomorrow this time. Good to see this one go through. It was beginning to 'Barnes' on CP (...only beginning!)

Paul, you spoke too soon - It's already gone over! There's plenty of time to try and get the price down too.
I just received my email saying that bidding closes on Dec 9th. It looks as if it has finally made it.
I bid $24 in July 2010 so I am very glad to see it finally cross the line, especially at a bargain $15. Now we have a full week to try and bring it down even more.
I bid $42 on May 2, 2010 so I'm glad this is finally getting out of cp at $15.. woohoo!!
This has to be one of the best bargains ever! 4700 pages for $15! Everyone should get a copy. Let's get it down to $12.

I bid on this 18 months ago. Glad to see it finally coming out of CP.
With a week to go, we should get enough orders to get it down to $12.

Mark Smith:Put in your bid. It looks like it will go for $15 or under which is a great deal.
We have until noon Friday (Bellingham) to knock the price down. $12 is doable.
