I'm sorry to hear of your difficulty.  My mother was an invalid for years due to a stroke and finally died from stroke.  I know she was very frustrated at the limitations she experienced from it.  There have been successes in treating stroke, and I pray that you may overcome the problems so that your disability will be short.

Jim - If you mean "camp logos 2," the videos have not yet been released. They are currently on pre-order.

Jim, may our Lord bless and keep you and yours on the road back. You have our prayers, not our pity. Smile I've had a pair of rare brain stem clots and, obviously, survived. I often have very temporary and equally brief moments of a type of amnesia associated with these types of strokes. Over time, I've been blessed to be able to close most, if not all, of the memory gaps, including working with my Logos 4 and most of my 25+ years of Scripture memory.

I often used (still do) Logos 4's Word Find Puzzle to help "tweak" my memory, kind of like an edifying brain teaser, if you will. It's found under "File" (which is found left of the command bar), in the left column under "New" at the the very bottom.

Jim, I am so sorry to hear of your stroke and that it resulted in the loss of your ability to use Logos. I pray that your memory loss didn't extend much further than that, and that you will recover everything you once knew in due time.

A great way to refresh your memory on how to use Logos is to watch Mark Barnes's Logos training videos: http://www.logos4training.com/

The loss of memory is much larger than Logos, I even forgot how to talk, but that has come back already, typing is another thing I had to learn again. I can now type but it takes much longer and I have to correct many words. I  have to think about many things now and it makes me get tired very guick.  For example I now try to avoid people when my wife takes me some where because if I have to talk at all the thinking gets me tired quickly.  I also sleep alot right now, but still, I remember Jesus and what he does for me! I amhappy about that, things are hard right now because we also had two comptuters stop working and that was verysad for me since they are my contact with the outside.  I have learned how to walk again so once a day I go for a walk and enjoy Gods creation.  on the sad side we have more bills because of this.  But I also know God is with us. I also cry at the least little thing now,and do not know why!  But I spend most my time enjoying thinking of Jesus and his grace towards us. Another sad thing was some one stole my identity and now my wife has to deal with that because I can't think right, but that is going well, but she sure has a lot on her plate right now!  But again I know God is in control of our lives and that is comforting.

In Christ,

Jim

As a pastor, I often found that when visiting folks with ailments in order to encourage them, I was the one who received the most encouragement. Reading your posts is another example of the encouragers receiving the most encouragement.

Praying for you and your full recovery, and for your wife for strength and wisdom.

Hi Jim, I too had a major stroke, July of 2008, with the same problems you are sharing, and also the peace of God which is indescribable to put into words. It was about 3 months afterward and many sessions of therapy where I could write anything that made sesne. It was enjoying my Logos and reading out-loud that gave me more confidence in having a conversation with someone. It took about 1 and 1/2 years to get to the point where I could read multiple books and retain the comprehasion necessary to form conclusions. Oh, and on the crying about the least little thing, yup, went through that too, it seems to have caused havoc on the emotion sector of the brain <g>.

Today, it's been about 3 1/4 years after that stroke, and I can say God is still healing me, so be encouraged that the healing is continuous even after more then 3 years later. Your typing and thought process is a lot better then mine was after the first few months, even today I'm thankful for spell check, not that I didn't have a problem before also <g>, but now I can blame it on something.

Jim, you're in my prayers, use this wonderful tool Logos both to grow in the Lord and to recover the skills you once had. In a sense, an event like this shows us how vulnerable we are, but then also how rich we are in Christ... without Christ I wouldn't know how to have any joy, so take comfort in His blessings.

Jim, God has obviously been answering my prayers for you!  Giving you his peace and joy.

I recently visited a friend who has lost her short term memory.  She used to be head of a community of deaconnesses till she retired, and after retirement was still a very capable woman.  I met her this time in a lift and said:  "I'm Nicky", uncertain if she'd remember me.  She did.  Fair enough - our relationship goes back to the 1960s. I was more surprised that she remembered my Albanian friend, for whom she had arranged treatment in their hospital about 5 years ago.  I was very moved when she said:  "When it's difficult, I clap myself on the shoulder and say:  'Anneliese, you've had a good life and God has looked after you.  You can be sure that he still has a plan for you!'."

Your attitude seems to be very similar.  People like you are such an inspiration to me, and obviously many others.  I thank God for you,and will continue to pray that he will give you that healing that is his will for you.  He's already given you an abundantly healthy attitude, which is the most important thing.  With that, you can live positively with whatever limitations he sees fit to leave with you.

Well said, Ma'am.

"And He has said to me,  'My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.' Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me."    (2 Co 12:9)
