I want to run a topic search and Logos used to load up all the resources ie handouts, sermons etc.. now it only goes to the basic search funtion with limited results. Why is this?
Dan
Hi Dan
Can you please clarify exactly how you are carrying out the search and what you are searching for?
Thanks, Graham
By default Logos has a bunch of preset resources that it searches from the homepage ie handouts, sermons etc... However I also use the normal search function ie the magnifying glass to perform a range of searches. When I go back to the homepage and use the Go button it seems to remember the last search I did with the magnifying glass and not the search that loads up all the default windows.
I can't reproduce what you describe, so please upload some screenshots --> http://wiki.logos.com/Screenshot
Using Logos 4.5 Beta 7, can replicate topic search using selected columns from previous search (e.g. Heading Text, Large Text, Title) vis initial default of searching All Text.
Thankful for Topic section when searching a subset of columns in Entire Library.
Suspect this thread is a follow-up to Home page GO dosnt load default search

This issue is a duplicate of http://community.logos.com/forums/t/41263.aspx
Dave - I was asked to re post with the word BUG in the title hence the duplicate.
That's fine if you can't edit the title of the original thread, but it would avoid confusion to reference the original thread.
Do we have any clarification as to whether or not this is a bug?
Daniel - It's kind of semantics. How do you define "bug"? I think that this is an unintentional result of intentional programming. In the search box, it is helpful for the software to remember settings. The go box is seemingly using the same settings. Either way, by you adding "Bug:" to your subject line, it is more likely to catch the attention of Logos for them to take a look at it.
When watching the training videos Logos implies that the Go button always defaults to the preset layout the first time you install it. If that is not the case I would like to know as it means I will need to make another customised search including the resources I want. I cant recall this happening in the past so I wonder if its a glitch
It seems like there may be two different issues being addressed in this thread. I'll address both, just in case.
The 'Go' box on the home page will perform one of two functions based on the input. If you enter a reference (i.e. John 3:16) you will get a preset layout including the Passage Guide, Exegetical Guide, Bibles, Commentaries, etc., which seems to be possibly what you are looking for, Dan.If you enter anything else in the 'Go' box (including misspelling a reference [;)]) instead of the multi-panel layout you'd get with a reference, a Search panel opens.
It does seem that there is a possible bug when the search panel opens instead. Using the 'Go' box seems to revert the search panel to a Basic Search for the Entire Library regardless of what was set for those options for your last search. But it does preserve the search field (i.e. Large Text) which seems odd since it will revert the panel to 'Entire Library' even if your last search was in a specific book. I'll report that issue to Development.
