Dear Logos,
Even though I'm unable this year to take advandage of your Thanksgiving sale, I'm deeply appreciative that you offered one. And you listened to those who weren't able to take advantage last year. Thank you.
unable this year to take advandage of your Thanksgiving sale
My gratitude has only increased. As it turns out, I was wrong. You also offered a free Vyrso book, which I ordered. And thank you again, because it also downloaded into Logos. You had something for everyone. Thank you!
For those of you who are upset that the "deal" you wanted wasn't offered, or that the "deal" you expected wasn't as good as the one you wanted, I'd gently remind you of what you already have... and how thankful we should be for that.
For those arguing with those dissatisfied, I'd gently remind you that this is a season of thankfulness for all God has given.
Lastly, I covet your prayers. The deal we received for thanksgiving this year was my wife's diagnosis of "lung cancer, already spread to bronchial airways and surrounding lymph nodes." We're still awaiting results of a needle biopsy that was done too late to get the results before the holiday... Monday it is.
Yet we're thankful for all God has given... health for today, an outpouring of support from brothers & sisters in Christ literally from around the world, and for all that Logos does for us to make more effective & efficient the time I spend on the weekly message, so I have more time for her.
Please remember to be thankful & loving with each other. Don't forget that how precious each brother & sister in Christ is to our Lord. And many blessings to you all.
Hi Bill - I don't know you, although I have read some of your posts over the months. I pray that God will be with you through a "dark valley" and I think your posts here remind us that our electronic libraries exist to serve a greater purpose, and are not an end in themselves (although they do enable us to serve more effectively).
May God walk with you through the coming months and give you grace for all that you are facing. .
Praying with Thanksgiving (per Philippians 4:4-8) plus Rejoicing.
Keep Smiling [:)]
...I'd gently remind you of what you already have... and how thankful we should be for that.
AMEN!!!
Lastly, I covet your prayers.
You certainly have them. We all feel for you and your beloved wife and family.
Bill
Lifting up a prayer for God's peace to be in you and your wife as you await the results of the biopsy.

Bill,
Thank you for reminding us of what is really important.
We are praying for your family as you await word on your wife's house.

Hey BillS,
Very nice post, and yes actually, I forgot it was Thanksgiving!! I was thinking more of the deal than God giving me the very life.
I also want to thank the whole Logos staff for these offers and pray for them all and their families (and your wife BillS), that the grace of God may abound in your lives. I acknownledge that there was no obligation to propose those deals and no-one is to be dissatisfied or anything like this feeling, because Logos staff is not accountable to us, and therefore I believe it really was to "bless us" in a way. Logos proposes, we decline or take, that's it. That's the way i understand the whole thing.
So thank you very much Logos people out there! Have a blessed day.
I apparently missed this second post. My thoughts are with you and your wife that all may turn out well. The Lord be with you.
Bill, Your family is in my prayers. - Ward
Many thanks to all of you for your prayers. Thanks, too, for helping us to focus on what's really important: all our loved ones, including our faithful, awesome God.

Thank you for gently re-directing my energies. United in prayer and thanksgiving is a much better way to honor God and his children. I will try to do just that. (Maybe my very bad health issues Friday was to soften my heart towards prayer for your wife's health.) Praying now....[W]
Bill, I am praying for your wife and you. May God richly bless you with His grace.
Many thanks for all your prayers... Our prayer is that God will be glorified... And He is glorified when we love each other as He loves us. [:)]
Many blessings to you all.
Praying. Please keep us informed.
Thanks for asking, Jack. Two cat scans have confirmed the presence of a mass. A needle biopsy last Monday (too late for results before the holiday) will confirm tomorrow what kind of cancer it is (small cell? large cell?), so they can determine what chemotherapy will be effective against it. Until then, we're getting it on Advent's season of waiting... we're waiting, too. Trying to redeem the minutes we have until then. Thanks for asking. We'll keep you posted as things change...
I will certainly be praying for your wife and the results of the biopsy. The Lord bless you both. His love and grace be upon you.
What makes this good news?
God Bless you Bill,
"In all things, give thanks." is not an easy thing to do. But you just showed us how it is done.
We will pray for wisdom for the Doctors, aggressive treatment, and the least discomfort necessary, all towards a restoration of health.
What makes this good news? She has NON-small cell lung cancer. Small cell lung cancer is the worst kind. It spreads quickly, & easily, often to the brain. We'll share more as we know it. In addition, the adenocarcinoma is a slow growing cancer too! Better news than I'd hoped for.
I just prayed for you and your family. May God's grace shine brightly through your lives to the Glory of God. May all those who come in contact with you all clearly see Jesus in you. I will try to remember to pray for you regularly.
I have never walked in the shoes which you now wear; however, now I know that if at some point I must put them on I will know a little better how to walk in them. Thank you for your example. May the mercy, grace and peace of the Most High be with you and your family. My prayers and those of my family are with you and yours.
Thank you for the report, Bill.
It is still a very serious situation regardless of the form of cancer. Our prayers continue to be with both of you.
We heard from her doctor's office. Given what the CT scan showed, it seems on the whole to be good news.
Thank you for sharing. Will continue to pray for your family.
Thanks all for your prayers... finally, I can report that Bon has an appt with an oncologist--this week. :-)
Reported as spam - another company to never use as they show no respect for potential customers.
Thanks for the update for our prayers. We will continue to pray.
Thanks, Martha, for reporting spam... Thanks, too, for your gentle spirit in these forums. I appreciate all you do.
Thanks for the update, Bill. We continue to pray for your wife and you. We thank God for the positive side of this news, as we pray for her complete healing and recovery. We also pray for God to meet all of your needs.
Thanks all of you for your prayers... Blessings to you all.
Bill:
Thank you for your spirit. Your entire family is in my prayers -- that God will continue to bring peace to your heart as you face this difficult situation.
Chuck

Peace, Bill! ............ and Always JOY in the Lord, even though tears of pain and grief sometimes afflict us!
I have - and I will again take you and your beloved wife to the Throne of Grace for healing and help and Strength for the Day! Also, Bill, you have served us well on these Logos Forums with your positive and wholesome attitude; and I thank you -- and I thank God for you -- and with you! *smile*
Deuteronomy 31:8
Thanks for your kind words, Milford, though with KS4J I'll point upwards towards the source of any positive influence you see.
Thanks for all your prayers... we treasure them...
Our 1st visit to an oncologist was yesterday. We were warned (by other pilgrims on this journey & others on staff at the world class Cancer Center we're blessed to live near) that the 1st visit would be grim--all about the statistics, assessment, & possible courses, & additional testing needed/indicated. Our expectations were for a rather grim meeting. (Dark humor: at least THOSE expectations were met... LOL)
He told us Bonnie has AT LEAST stage 3B (not only a relymph nodes involved, but those on opposite side of the affected lung are also involved). Additional tests (MRI & PET) will occur before next Friday to determine if it's stage 4 (involvement of any of liver, brain, bones, or adrenal glands). Treatment if it's "only" stage 3B? Chemo & radiation; no surgery. (Surgery only for stages 3A & below). Treatement if it's stage 4? Chemo, but what kind depends on whether her cancer has either of two specific gene mutations; if it has either of those, there's a tailored therapy (new drugs specifically for cancer with those mutations); otherwise, it's standard chemo. Additional tests on sample from last week's biopsy will also be complete by next Friday.
Prognosis if "only" 3B? On average, 10% of those with 3B lung cancer will be alive in 3 years. If stage 4? On average, another 12-18 months.
Pointers towards hope? There's also an indicator of her "performance status" that plays into her prognosis. It measures how debilitating the disease already is on a scale of 0 to 4 (as dr. put it, "5 being dead"), with 0 being no symptoms & 4 being bed-ridden. He seemed surprised that Bonnie is a 0. He seemed even more surprised that she's had none of the "average" symptoms of the disease as yet, excepting the dry cough that for awhile masqueraded as pneumonia.
How are we doing emotionally? It's a good thing our hope isn't in the science--averages, numbers, & labels. Our hope is in the living Lord. We're thankful for another day today. She's gone to work. I'm working from home. And I'm thankful that in a few moments (at end of this post) I'll be able to move into L4 & make rapid progress toward a rich message for this Sunday, much richer than would've been possible without Bible s/w.
Many blessings to you all, and thanks for your prayers.
Thanks for the update. I have other friends and family that are at different aspects of their battles with cancer. Those with strong faith have really seen God's hand in their situation.
As my wife's friend said recently, "I'm not going to ask why this happened to me, but why this happened for me."
Thanks for posting this... what an encouragement. Blessings to you...
[EDIT] I shared it with Bonnie, who replied that this seems to dovetail with her sense that "God is allowing this and I need to figure out what he wants me to do with it..."
Thanks again... Powerful encouragement.
