Well we knew it had to happen. Libronix 3 must eventually fade away as the whispers of Logos 5 get louder. I am talking about the new de-velopment in the downloading of Libronix files from the Logos website.
There are some files that just do not run under Libronix 3, files like Biblical People, Places, and Things, along with the Perseus Collections. But most of the resources sold will work with both L3 and L4 versions. When we purchased downloadable resources our invoice contained an option to download the files to a "previous version" installation. That option is now GONE. Not only is it missing from the new invoices, it has been purged from all our previous invoices.
THIS IS NOT GOOD.
If you think, "Fine, I will just use the "Librinox downloadable files" at the bottom of my order page.", Think again. Logos has not given us any Libronix file links for resources that have shipped the last couple of days. In other words, The Expositors Bible can not be installed to Libronix.
Please, Logos, tell me you are just caught in a server switch and will have support for Libronix restored soon. I would hate to think we will lose Libronix before Logos 4 has reached maturity.
Logos 7 Collectors Edition
Thats odd... I have links for puchases I made just a couple days ago... when do you notice the last files for you?
Alexander Longacre: Thats odd... I have links for puchases I made just a couple days ago... when do you notice the last files for you?
ALL of my invoices I have checked are missing the option to "Download to previous versions." I checked invoices from 2010 and 2011 and none have the option now.
what a bad day for Logos......................... I'm going to go put on the sackcloth. I'll let the rest of you do the wailing.
I too no longer have the links for Libronix.
I am sad at this as well.
I HATE L4 but I was able to download the Expositor's Bible to Libronix. The download script was attached to my email notification but no more download links found in our order history page.
I am very sad.
If they stop making Libronix resources and change to making ONLY Logos 4 they will lose me as a user. I haven’t bought any resources that are L4 only except for a .99 book (which I copied and made into a PB for Libronix). I have downloaded the free L4 resources but they will not get any more money from me so I hope they continue to make L3 resources so I can give them my money.
Don't you want my money?
Super Tramp: This just in: From 2012 on no resources shipping from Logos.com will rum under Libronix
I hope Logos has an answer to the question about our licenses and rights were they ever to go out of business. I don't want to have spent thousands of dollars over the years to be locked out and have all my purchased material vanish overnight because Logos shuts its doors. I don't have that fear at the moment, but does Logos think they can endure until the return of Christ?
ftp://ftp.logos.com/LbxBooks/ still works.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

yep.

The Expositor's Bible files are here, I believe:
So they still support Libronix. They just don't tell you how to get the files.

These two pieces of information are conflicting. Lets settle down and find the truth before Denise gets here!

Concur my Logos.com orders page no longer has libronix update script links.
Personally wish Logos 4 information for resources would show resource licensing (so know when purchased license, then duplicated), which is available in Libronix 3.

So please tell us Todd. How do I get my latest Pre-Pubs into Libronix?
btw: I did not make up the news flash. It came from the mouth of a Logos employee. Maybe that employee got it wrong but they said "Nothing shipping from 2012 on will run under Libronix. "
I am sending Bob Pritchett an email with this thread linked. Hope he tells us it ain't so!

Whatever the case may be - it's definitely a good idea to wait now for a definitive answer lest rampant speculation leads us astray.

Download the files from ftp.logos.com to your Libronix resources directory, and synchronize your licenses in Libronix. The files will be named the same as the Logos4 ones, except they will have the .lbxlls extension instead of the .logos4 extension. You can find the Logos4 filenames by going to the support information portion of the info pane in the resource window.
Edit: here are links (EDIT2: forum software doesn't like "ftp" links had to remove the "link"):

Sorry I didn't know. That wasn't clear from your first postings.

edit: Thanks. I also found the Augustine Pre-Pub already. It's all coming back to me now.

Huh? Maybe I should be sleeping off my minor foot surgery rather than doing silly talk in the forums. I am looking for the AM Moody Foundations of Ministry files
I am having a little trouble identifying them (32 files)

I don't have those resources, but here's how to find the filenames in Logos 4:
Open the resource in question. Click on the (i) button in the upper right of the resource's window. Then scroll to the bottom:
THEN, go the to ftp site, and look for that filename in the LbxBooks directory (except it will end with lbxlls instead of logos4)
I'm sorry our announcement is late; we are planning to drop support for Libronix edition of new releases. It's been over 2 years since we moved to Logos 4, and most of our users have moved to it.
As we add more functionality and support for richer tagging to Logos 4, it's harder and more time-consuming to build Libronix-compatible editions. And while there are still Libronix users, they typically aren't frequent/active purchasers of new content. (They are increasingly, by definition, people who don't upgrade/buy a lot of new things.)
We believe the time is right to drop Libronix support on new releases so that we can put our resources into other efforts.
I know many people do still use Libronix, and we're not disabling it, we're just not going to keep putting more and more effort into supporting it with new releases. I apologize for the disconnect between the change in releases and the announcement; if you need to return a resource we'll be happy to help you with that.

I was just thinking about uninstalling Libronix from my computer as I can't remember the last time I opened it. I am really happy with all the improvements we have seen over the last two years and as soon as we get notes and highlighting on ios I will be ecstatic! I know some people will complain but I just wanted to say thanks Bob, I'm sure the reallocated labor will pay off in an even better L4 experience.
Okie dokie, Bob. Let's try to clarify (since the details don't match the above).
1. Are people able to download 'any' L3 resources they've purchased in 2012? The above indicates you're still sending emails with licenses.
2. Are we safe in concluding the credits we were promised in 2011 are now not supportable in Libronix3? Note that the 1 month delay was not mentioned in your Christmas sale verbage (though the delay is understandable).
I ask #2 (along with #1) since I had assumed that indeed you'd stop shipping L3 resources (so I purchased AYB). But if you're not also going let me download the credits in L3 format (you not having even mentioned your delay during the sale), then yes, we'll need to undo about $2,100 worth of purchases and finish up our relationship.

Bob Pritchett: it's harder and more time-consuming to build Libronix-compatible editions
So much for multi-platform usage of resources.
All under-powered laptops and netbooks need not apply. The same goes for older computers; or for those that do not have good internet connections. If the resource is not available in Biblia or ipad you are out of luck. If you consider hardware requirements for full Logos 4 application; the entry level just got more expensive. It seems that if a resource can be made available to an internet browser it surely could be made available in some form for Libronix, which is browser based, even if all the "advanced functionality and richer tagging" may be crippled. This was my initial criticism of Logos 4 and it still stands. I wonder about the remote missionary or the budget minded user that has hardware related issues. (I just recently upgraded to a new quad-core i7 computer but still run Libronix as well as Logos4 because of some features I don't want to get into now.)
