Just got the email that this one will close Friday for $80... But $70 & even $60 look SO close! Want it cheaper? Now's the time...

http://www.logos.com/product/15152/the-medieval-preaching-and-spirituality-collection

I checked out pages 5 & 7 on a number of volumes, & I saw some illustrations  Sermones Vulgares of Jacques de Vitry  that'd preach today. Looked like there'd be other useful resources for today's preaching, as well.

What think you?

Blessings!

Grace & Peace,
Bill

BillS:

What think you?

When placing bid, noticed potential for price drop to $ 50 if enough additional bids are placed very soon.

By the way, seem to remember Friday the 13th being unlucky for some, but unable to find in my Logos library.

I see they've now added bids all the way down to $20. If you didn't bid before because you found the lowest bid too high, go and place your bid somewhere! There's always a chance there's enough of you to drive the price down.

Look who's in there: Boethius, Gregory the Great, Bernard, Thomas Aquinas, Bonaventure. Albert the Great, Catherine of Siena...

You've got 4 vols on Job, 2 on the Song of Songs, and 2 on lectionary readings. You've got sermon illustrations and a book on medieval preaching. You've got Lives of St Bernard and St Francis. You've got the love letters of Abélard and Héloïse.  You've got Bernard on Grace and Free Will, John Damascene on icons,  and Aquinas on the Eucharist. And you've got a whole bunch of classics on the inner life and union with God.

I had forgotten how good this collection was!

More bids are needed to reduce final price; currently approaching $ 70

For those on the fence...$70 is better than $80.

Really, folks! I thought this one had a good potential to go down to $50, and now it looks like we'll only just make $70. How can you miss out on a gem like this?

Say is any of this duplicated in the other "church fathers" type resources?

Almost through at $70, but a lot of hold-outs at $50.

If everyone who bid at $50 would move to $70 we would all get it for $60 !!

Cool

Shouln't be. This collection is a nice complement.  "Early Church Fathers" = 2nd Century to 5th Century; "Midieval Collection" = 6th Century to 13th Century.

Not entirely true. The ECF go all the way up to the 7 Ecumenical Councils, and this collection begins with the Desert Fathers. John Damascene and Gregory the Great are in both, but it's not the same works. The only duplication I know of -- or suspect rather -- would be quotes in the ACCS and the Catena Aurea -- which is a good thing because now you'll be able to see those quotes in context.
