BUG: 4.5 Beta 14: Bible Search in PB Bible broken (was working in 4.3)

Am I doing something wrong? Has anyone else been able to get Bible Search to work in PB Bibles? Or is this a bug?

Somebody decided that it should not be indexed as a bible, so you can successfully use a Basic Search on Bible Text but Bible Search will not work. This has changed from v4.3.

EDITED: Before I wrote my question I tried my PB Bibles and all of them worked correctly (as Bibles). After I wrote the question I tried to rebuild Mark Barn's Geneva Bible file and I got the same results as you. So obviously we have a problem here. I hope it is a bug, not something done by design. [:(]

EDIT II: Sorry, I was to investigate it more before writing. Mark Barn's Geneva Bible docx file (at least the version I tried) is without the Bible fields markings ( {{field-on:Bible}}...{{field-off:Bible}} ). I have to try another file.

Just to confirm this is a bug. I have built an italian Bible with a similar tag sequence and I have the same problem. I also have the version 4.5 beta 14 of LBS.

Concur; can replicate using my Personal Book Bible ASV 1901:

Text Comparison verifies bible field tagging. Search shows 0 results, but highlights results in Personal Book Bible, which has a Bible (KJV) index.

If that would be true and It were not a bug, than it would cripple all PB Bibles totally. I think I don't have to explain that for those languages and translation we do not have much hope to see them produced by Logos, PB Bibles are the only solution. Basic search doesn't make much sense for Bibles. [:(]

They do. But a Bible PB was indexed twice in v4.3 and could use Bible Search; bible indexing isn't done in v4.5.

Point #2 is not correct. PB Bibles are indexed as Bibles. If you can navigate by Scripture reference (typing into the reference window) that means it is indexed as a Bible. I can do that in my PB Bibles. And they say Bible in the Indexes field in the Info panel:

The fact that Search Fields listed include Bible Text means that Bible Search is supposed to work in PB Bibles. The fact that it doesn't work is a serious show-stopping bug in my opinion and should prevent 4.5 from going Gold until this is fixed.

Yes, you are right Rosie. It does say in the PB Bibles (I recompiled after the change in 4.5) info panel - under the indexes: Bible, although it doesn't use the index in searches (showing 0 results). If it is just bug, it's OK. They will fix it in a due time (hopefully soon). My concern is if that would be by design, it would really cripple whole PB Bible thing.

OK, you're right about that, but we're both right, since terminology confusion exists in Logos: index means two different things. The Bible Index listed in the info panel refers to whether the various parts of the resource are addressable by Bible reference (which it is). The indexer that builds an index for Search to use is something different, and that part isn't working. So yes, it has an index of Bible references, but its content is not indexed in the Bible Search index. Your point 2 was ambiguous. You meant the latter, but I thought you meant the former.

Yup, it's working again, but in grid view I get a circle with a slash through it instead of a colored box for my PB version. Can't click there and go to that verse in that version. Can't hover there and see the popup of the text in that version as I can with the Logos edition Bibles.

Thanks for the idea about the range milestones. I was able to do the single verse tagging using a macro. I didn't realize that bible milestone tags could include ranges or I would have set up the macro to do that instead. Looks like I can still fix it now with another macro.

I think that PBB can support range milestones (because our regular resources do), but I haven't actually tested it...

The Message was revised by hand when we received updated files from the publisher. In accordance with the print, the visible verse numbers are ranges, but the publisher provided the location of the actual verse breaks, which were inserted invisibly. Bradley, while I have your attention can I ask how it's possible to close or end a milestone in a PB? If you're creating a PB that included the Apostles Creed and the Westminster Confession, for example, how would you tell the PB that you'd come to an end of the creed when you reached the confession?
