Ward Walker:

I loaded the newest Beta today on my rooted Nook Color; when I tried to open the app, it wouldn't log me in.  I kept trying to enter my password, but it wouldn't take it.  Then, suddenly, it did--same password.  Odd.

Luckily when I go off-line, all my downloaded resources are still there--so perhaps the logout/login "erase all downloads" code has been changed in the newest Beta.

We have indeed taken some initial steps to address this case in 0.9.4. For now, there should not be any more problems. We know this is an important issue, so we will make every effort to preserve your downloads if we see this scenario on the horizon in the future. :)

Had you previously re-logged in on your Nook after we had to re-authenticate everyone a week or so ago? If this occurred a second time (after you had already re-logged in and re-downloaded your books), it would be a concern...

Sarel Slabbert:

I also ran into another problem: suddenly I am unable to log into my account on my device. I keep on getting Invalid Username or password.

Is this a second time you were automatically logged out after you had already signed-in? Or did you re-install the app or something?

Not sure when I was logged out or why. I did not reinstall the program. I did managed to log in at the end, but it required a few retries.  Not sure why or how, but at least I have been logged in at the end.

I am confused:

Bob Pritchett  Well, there is a pretty good reason. Books are only useful if you have a license to them, and apps that download lots of resources and don't clean up after themselves use up the limited storage on mobile devices. So our Android app was coded to delete downloaded book files when you were logged out (or, specifically, logged in after a log out). We didn't anticipate the mandatory cookie reset scenario, so logging out and logging back in was imagined as a way to either switch user accounts (which would require different resources) or to "reset" the application. (We did lots of this during the testing phase, as you can imagine.)

The EULA states that we are to have individual accounts. [that is husband and wife are to not share the same login [except that it is acceptable when one is a power user and the other just reads books (second user is a very light user)].  So if there is only one Android tablet in the family and power user logs out and second user (with separate account per the EULA) logs in am I reading this correctly that all of power users books will be deleted and second users downloaded?  That will mean that we cannot share a Android unit between two users????    Maybe if were could sync to our CPU instead of the Cloud? [[Yes, I saw that the file formats were different CPU and Mobile unit but could we store the Mobile files on the CPU with a large hard drive and then sync to it????? ]]  How many LOGOS 4 customers for Mobile do not have a CPU account?  [where CPU is PC or MAC]

That would appear to be the case. The current design login/out scenario shows a lack of consideration for a single user and is obviously not designed for multiple accounts to co-exist (they would have to change the folder structure for that). Strangely, tablets are more likely to be a family device but they usually have less storage than a phone!

So you can use one device for two users but you would lose individual settings and history and don't bother to download resources.

So the work-a-round is for the family [that tried to follow the rules and get multi Logos log-ins] is to just use the POWER users account on the device!

Do you need to use the same password on the device as you use on the CPU?

That is your conclusionIndifferent. Logos assumed only one user per device.

Yes - use the credentials you use to login to your account on the web site.

This is intensely frustrating, just this last weekend I spent a good 2 hours RE-downloading for the second time.

There was no Logos update in the Kindle Fire app store, so downloaded the application, and it didn't install. I removed Logos and ran the .apk, Logos 0.9.4 installed no problems.

Log in to find no resources.

Just crazy.

I removed Logos

It will remove everything if you uninstall; no different to desktop apps. The need to do so is documented here - - http://community.logos.com/forums/t/44710.aspx

This is incorrect. I install and uninstall things all day long. If I uninstall SQL Server, it does not delete my databases. If I uninstall Office, it does not remove my word files. If I delete a user off of the computer, it keeps the deleted user's "My Documents", "Application Data", etc.

If there is a high probability of the android application being uninstalled and reinstalled because of updates, I would think there should be a safeguard against deleting the files off of the device.

We're looking at it differently but I didn't qualify my comment.  User-created work is not generally removed without asking your permission e.g. deleting a Windows user account. The Logos 4 desktop app will remove resources but keep your Documents after uninstalling.

After updating to a newer Logos Android app, my downloaded Bibles do not appear on the Offline Library list. :( When I checked SD card, my downloaded Bibles data is still there but I'm not sure how to access to it. It seems that a newer app does not even provide an option anymore to download the books again. If I'm wrong, plz enlighten me how to do it.

Now I got it!  NRSV and NIV come with download link but not with ESV and NLT. Hope to provide all download links to the purchased books.

You might have to uninstall and then reinstall to get the app to behave properly. You should be able to download resources from Library whilst online (select arrow icon on right); including ESV and NLT.

See the thread for 0.9.4 at the top of the Forum for more details.

If you still have issues please describe the device you have and its version of Android
