In the Biblical Places map of Herod's Kingdom Cyprus is located just beside Jericho. The popup says it is an island in the Mediterranean Sea, but it is not located there on the map:

LOL That's a fair understatement - "The popup says it is an island in the Mediterranean Sea, but it is not located there on the map:". It wouldn't even be seen on the strip of the Sea that is shown!
Maybe this happend after an earthquake?[:)]
A ha! Clear evidence that the bible was written by men and can't be trusted!!

Chris:
Thanks for pointing this out. The map is correct, but the meta-data (which generates the popup) isn't. As indicated on the legend, the places with yellow circles are Herodian fortresses. Some of them share a name with a city, or are the same as it (e.g. Masada), and for those we have in our database of Biblical Places there will be a hyperlink and a popup. Others (Malatha) aren't in the database, so no hyperlink or popup. So there was a Herodian fortress at this site, called Cyprus: it's just a different Cyprus than the island in the Mediterranean.
(this led to me discovering another, similar mistake: Geba, another fortress in Galilee, is incorrectly linked to the levitical city assigned to Benjamin. By comparing the Levitical Cities map, you'll see this is the wrong Geba, since this area up in Galilee is not part of the Benjaminite tribal allotment. So again, the map is right, but the metadata association is wrong).
Having acknowledged these mistakes (which we're happy to learn about so we can fix them), permit me to point out a subtle but very important feature of the Biblical Places data (which is also true of Biblical People and Things). Not only have we cataloged all these people and places, but we've done semantic disambiguation on all the maps, as well as all the biblical references. So when e.g. the Bible Explorer panel for 2Sam 5:25 points to "Geba", we've done the work to identify which Geba it is (the city better known as Gibeon, and not the levitical city mentioned above). This is something that no concordance or other string-matching approach can tell you, and it takes a lot of hard work. We did this disambiguation for each of the more than 5,000 people, places, and things in the Bible, so that the data would be right, and so our users would get to the right information more easily.
Bravo...we really appreciate your hard work Logos.. [Y]

Ditto.....
A few small errors are bound to creep in.
Better tools for error reporting would be helpful
