I have found that the Lexham Hebrew-English Interlinear Bible has boxes in the literal English translation.  I'm not sure that they are meant to be there.

That's what it is.  David's font doesn't have anything to print for that dot character.

Your right Chris.  I changed the default font back to Times New Roman and the boxes went away. It is a pity since I quite enjoy the Abadi MT font.  This font appear when I first started using L4 notes - I loved it & decided to make it the default font for English.  Perhaps Logos can fix this problem - no doubt, one of the many thousands on their To Do list.

David, I also have Win XP but no font issues with LHI. Others have issues in Merriam-Webster (mine is minor) and I'm at a loss to suggest a fix because no one has come up with one!

EDIT

OK, now I know what the Default font affects!

I'm pretty sure I remember someone (Bradley?) saying that there were known issues with fonts.

Chris,

You are correct in principle - can't remember if it was bradley.  I should just tackle the search function in the beta forum and find it...

Back on subject: Yes there is a font issue that's partially tied to WinXP.

After more reading of the beta forums I'm convinced that it's tied to XP and Vista both, but not to everyone's install.  The underlying problems are not yet known.

One course of action was:

If you open Control Panel > Regional and Language Options, and select the Languages tab, are both "Install files" checkboxes at the bottom checked? If not, and you check them (may require Windows XP discs?) is the problem fixed? (These checkboxes install Windows components—not just fonts—that aren't present on XP by default.)

Thanks for tackling the joy of searching in the forums. When you do, it seems like you are going where no one has gone before . . .

I have Vista Business and there are no check boxes on the Languages and Keyboard tab. So, not sure how this is addressed in Vista.

Thomas I was also was  one who had the "boxes" issue in the Hebrew interlinear -in both Xp on my tower and in Vista on the laptop - I also had to revert to the default - I think I had been trying to use Tahoma (a favorite of mine).

David,

Do you know where I might find a key to the parsing codes in this same Interlinear?  I don't see it in the beginning or end of the resource, nor in the Brown-Driver-Briggs that it is linked to.  I tried to find a reference with a Google search, and still came up empty.  This thread is about as close as I found.

Any suggestions?

Blessings,

John

The wiki is the place to look! Look under Andersen-Forbes Hebrew.

The PARALEL ALLIGNED HEBREW-ARAMAIC AND GREEK TEXTS OF JEWISH SCRIPTURE - ALEXANDRINUS AND THEODOTION VARIANTS behaves the same way if you don't use the default font. This would be another one to fix. I personally don't like Times New Roman, I prefer the calibri font type.

Actually one needs to look under "Logos Hebrew Morphology".  Why aren't the codes listed in the book or the wiki linked on the product page? Mystifying.

Here is the link to the resource. Of course it will probably be cheaper if you bought it in some bundle or the other. https://www.logos.com/product/2056/lexham-hebrew-english-interlinear-bible

And don't forget the full resource that Logos has provided, which explains the usage in detail.  I often forget I have it since I didn't 'buy' it.
