Friends, I am receiving 2 or 4 Logos.com emails a day and it's a bit much for me. The only thing I have checked in my account profile for notifications is "pre-publications." I don't mind keeping that, but the "March Madness" flood, "Logos Sales," "Logos Talk," etc. need to go. I could filter and block, but I'd rather cut the flow at the source. I'm sure I clicked "yes" somewhere to initiate this. I just can't find the off switch.  Any suggestions.?

Thanks,

Steve

At the bottom of your email there should be a link to allow you to unsubscribe from those emails.

Steve, you have total control of what Logos emails to you.  Follow these steps:

  1. Goto www.logos.com
  2. Ensure that you are logged in, then click "Account" in the upper right of the screen, right beside "Sign Out"
  3. Now click on "Notifications", and deselect all Email List categories that you no longer want them to email you.
  4. Click on the orange "Update" and you're done!

I've noticed the volume stepping up lately, too. I'm going to have to go tweak things to control the flood. I thought I had it set at a level I was comfortable with before, but they've obviously started tripling or quadrupling the number of messages they send out for various categories of messages, and that's not good.

Yeah, the number of emails I get from them lately is borderline absurd... but I'm wary of unsubscribing because I don't want to miss out on something that I may be interested in, which is why I subscribed to begin with.

I agree and feel the same way. I wonder if a gentle email to marketing might point out that the recent volume increase has become annoying. They will probably just say "unsubscribe from whatever lists you are getting too much email on" but that's not really what we want.

Richard, of COURSE there's a link to unsubscribe from those emails. Wish I'd thought of that myself! Embarrassed

Thanks,

Steve

Agreed, it has become too much. What I find most annoying, though, are things like:

  • Getting quite a few mails on Proclaim and Android, in spite of having deliberately not checked those mailing lists. They slip them into the other feeds anyway.
  • Getting lots of mails on resources I either already have, or have already ordered.
  • Getting several mails on very similar resources that were put on prepub at the same time, when they could easily have shared the same e-mail.

Yep the marketing machine seems to be on overdrive ... I subscribe to Logos Twitter feed by RSS and there is a flood of daily Tweets, often advertising the same offer 3 or 4 times. Granted that Twitter content, like all social media content, is much more transient, but all the same it's a lot.

I wish there was an option to get one digets of all the deals they send out in a weekly or daily bases. That way you never worry about missing a good deal or useful book you'd like to buy, but you don't get inundated with the current barrage of messages.

I just wish they'd communicate about the improvements to their apps/software a tenth as much as they do about their deals.

In the last 3 months or so, maybe I got 2 or 3 emails? Mainly about the basketball game.

Before Christmas "Marketing flood" I got tired of the constant emails from LOGOS, so I went to my account page and unchecked everything.  I continued to get some emails, so I clicked on the unsubscribe link in them... about 4 or 5 times. IT DID NOT WORK.  I brought up the issue in the forums, and even got a reply from Bob "we'll look into it"

Well, I am still getting emails.

It appears to me that LOGOS is using several different sources/platforms for sending out emails and they do not coordinate unsubscribe requests.

I really don't care if I miss another "must have" book, I want to unsubscribe from all promotional email communication from LOGOS. Does it have to be that hard to do?

If Logos are continuing to send you emails after you have expressly informed them you no longer wish to receive them, then Logos are in breach of the CAN-SPAM act

There are penalties of up to $16,000 for each separate email in violation of the CAN-SPAM Act, so it would be in their interests to ensure they are in compliance.

Well, I am still getting emails.

I have emailed Dan Pritchett, the VP of Marketing, about the issue in general and about your problem in particular, toughski.

I pointed out that I'd received 45 emails from promotions@logosmail.com in the month of March (only 3 of which were explainable by the uptick due to March Madness) and 34 in February, whereas December and January I received only 11 and 18 messages, respectively. And I hadn't changed anything about my subscriptions. So they do appear to be going overboard lately.

Hopefully he can do something about it.

I've just tweaked mine a bit. Oddly enough, many of the emails have been caught by Postini, a server-side email spam filter. It may be that in their rush to email so much they have actually hurt themselves.
