I have the Platium package. Will someone point me to the best Historical background rescourse that i have or better yet that is in Logos?
Thanks
Best for ? Please elaborate a bit about what historical background is desired.
Looking at => http://www.logos.com/comparison noticed 11 dots for Platinum resources in "Bible History and Culture"
If looking for Second Temple historical background, may want to consider => In the Shadow of the Temple
Keep Smiling [:)]
Both Hebrew and Greek. i would like to get in the heads of the writers in every book of the bible and i would like to start with Bible History and Culture" and would like to do that with the best commentary whether L4 or hard copy that i have to buy from Amazon or some other source.
best Historical background rescourse
Not sure about best but for the New Testament I do like:
deSilva, David Arthur. An Introduction to the New Testament: Contexts, Methods and Ministry Formation. Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 2004.

I do have Platinum but I don't think that this was included.
In general, most good single volume commentaries will be a good start, again one that I quite like is:
Dockery, David S. Holman Concise Bible Commentary: Simple, Straightforward Commentary on Every Book of the Bible. Nashville, TN: Broadman & Holman Publishers, 1998.

The IVP Bible Background Commentaries are cultural-historical commentaries. They are located within The Essential IVP Reference Collection Version 3
would like to do that with the best commentary
You will find widely differing opinions as to which commentaries are best. Take a look at http://bestcommentaries.com/ There you will find rankings for each book of the Bible.

also http://www.logos.com/product/5321/commentary-on-the-new-testament-use-of-the-old-testament or http://www.logos.com/product/9654/an-introduction-to-the-new-testament?utm_source=logosmarchmadness.com&utm_medium=couponcodepage&utm_campaign=marchmadness2012 which is 60% off!
The best are:
Zondervan Illustrated Bible Backgrounds Commentary: Old Testament (5 vols.)
Zondervan Illustrated Bible Backgrounds Commentary: New Testament (4 vols.)
i would like to get in the heads of the writers in every book of the bible
One resource to consider => The Writers of the New Testament: Their Style and Characteristics that is included in => William Henry Simcox Collection
Another one to ponder (bit older) => Studies on the New Testament that is included in => Frédéric Louis Godet Commentary Collection
Noted some Greek Language insights in => The Use of the Septuagint in New Testament Research and => Sources of New Testament Greek that is included in => Harry Angus Alexander Kennedy Collection
Logos has product guides => http://www.logos.com/products/guides that include => Cultural & Historical Background , => Hebrew Texts and Tools , => Greek Bible Texts and Tools , and => Septuagint
I agree Pedro. The Zondervan Illustrated Bible Background Commentaries are hard to beat. They are my favorites.
