I noticed that when I try to prioritize my resources I have to pull the volumes of Luther's Works over to the priority list one volume at a time.  For other collections I only need to pull over one volume and the whole collection is added to the list.

I know that Luther's Works isn't purely a commentary set, but so much of it is commentary material that it would be nice to be able to either (1) setup Luther's Works as a whole collection or (2) allow prioritization of resources based on collections/tags.

I would love to be able to prioritise the whole series. So Yes.

Yes please. I had tried this a while ago and manually had to add my favorite volumes. Way better to have these automatically added as a series.

I also would like this to be added as a series/collection instead of individually.

Agreed, but at the least, can we get the subtitle to each volume (e.g. Luther's Works Vol. 1 Lectures on Genesis Ch. 1-5) in the Library title?

I would like them to do this for us, but the good news in Logos 4 is that you can rename your resources yourself. I made a quick and very poorly done video on how to do it for Luther's Works: http://screencast.com/t/YTk2MjQ0NDM

And on my last post, you'll notice in the video that you don't actually have to open each resource to get the subtitle. If you look under the bibliographic reference in the Library window, it includes the subtitle for easy renaming.

Jacob,

Thank you so much for this!!! I have just finished renaming my Luther's Works, whose lack of subtitles always frustrated me in Libronix 3.

Thanks for the tip Jacob.  If these resources are updated though do they revert to the original title or is L4 smart enough to keep the customized title for the updated resource?

It seems like it would be a simple update to make Luther's Works into a collection for us.  Hopefully it can happen.

John-

I am not perfectly clear on what you are wanting to do.  You can make a collection out of Luther's Works.  You can also search for them, to prioritize.

Here's how I am doing it.  Hope this is what you are needing.

When you have the collection screen open, you select new.  I titled mine, "Luther's Works".  Then in the box that says "starts with", I typed this phrase  title:Luther's Works  In other words, the word TITLE, a colon, and the word LUTHER'S WORKS.  This tells the collection to look for EVERYTHING that has "Luther's Works" in the title.  When you open the list of books and are trying to prioritize, in the FIND box, type title:Luther's Works and it will do the same.

Now I have two collections: the Luther's Works collection with 55 books.  I also have a Lutheran Collection, which has ALL books that have the word "Luther" in the title, so I get "A Lutheran Exposition", "the Lutheran Confessions", "Luther Bibel" and others.

A collection is helpful (I have one setup) but I am looking specifically to have Luther's Works setup as a series.  Volumes that are listed properly in a series allows the user to prioritize the entire series.  For example search for a commentary that has volumes in a series.  You can then right click on that volume and select "Prioritize Volume" or "Prioritize Series."  Creation a collection does not allow you to prioritize the whole collection, at least as far as I know.

So the specific request to Logos is to configure Luther's Works as a series.  Seems like it would make sense since the books are listed in volumes, which suggests that they all belong together as a series.

Hi John, I am not sure I understand what advantage you hope will come from having LW prioritized. I don't see the connection you are making between LW and a commentary series like NIC. the former contains a mix of biography, commentary and theology. The latter is a seris of volumes each corresponding and tagged for a specific book of the Bible. I am sure you are aware that LW are not versified and do not work the same as a commentary set like NIC. What then is your goal in prioritizing LW? Thanks :-)

Looks like a lot of folks echo that desie, so am I missing how LW is tagged? maybe I did not realize it was tagged to work like a commentary. Does anyone know which volues are versified?

The commentary editions are versified and do appear in passage guides.

Thanks for doing that video, Jacob. I've added it to the list of video tutorials on the wiki.

I guess I never looked close enough at my LW to see they were versified. of the 50 volumes, how many would show up in the PG? Isn't prioritizing the whole series overkill, or would it be simpler to prioritize the couple that are versified? I plead ignorance on this info, so thanks for educating me with some specifics :-)
