I don't find the new year 2009-2010 on Logos yet. Am I missing something?

The 2009-2010 Standard Lesson eCommentary seems to only come as a CD packaged with the hardcopy version, (also sold without the CD). The StandardPub.com website says simply (and only) that "The CD-ROM includes both KJV and NIV versions, plus PowerPoint lesson outlines and reproducibles." There's no mention of any electronic format, (seemingly anywhere on Standard's site, that of major online book/Christian supply retailers or anywhere else on the Internet), but since it doesn't say "Libronix" I'm assuming it's in PDF.

I once was considering buying a previous edition of this because it contained the NIV.  I seem to recall that it was in Logos format though I may misremember.  I do note, however, that Logos does have a bundle containing the NIV, TNIV and NIrV for $79.95.

I have the Standard eCommentaries from two different teaching years, neither of which actually contained (at least to my knowledge) the actual NIV Bible in Libronix format. (The KJV Version, however, was included.)

I believe the difference between the KJV and NIV versions are: (1) the Bible text presented in the lessons and (2) the actual version text elaborated upon in the commentary sections. That said, I only installed the NIV eCommentaries, so I can't be 100% certain.

I sent an e-mail to the publisher on this and got a reply today.

George,

Thank you for contacting us about our product. What kind of format are you asking about? The eCommentary that is now bound inside a printed volume has the same format as previous years: based on the Libronix platform and programmed by Logos Bible Software.

Please Note: Due to licensing restrictions, the Zondervan NIV Bibles Bundle: NIV, TNIV, NIrV is only available for users in the United States and Canada. So it reads on the Logos product page.  Zondervan has problems with, even licensing their Bibles to international customers.

Does anyone have any more info on this? I would love to add these Bibles to my Logos Library.

I believe you can get the NIV in the Concordia Electronic Theological Library - Collection 1:

http://www.logos.com/products/details/1744

Of course, that's not available as a download so it may not be cost effective.

Thanks on the Niv front, i guess no chance of having the TNIV & NIrV also.

I have used the Standard Publishing eCommentary Sunday School Lesson helps for 6 years now. When it first came out, as mention on this discussion it was available only by buying the special paper verion of of the commentary that included the cd with both the KJV and NIV. The format was Libronix/Logos.

Then for a few years, the cd was available without having to buy the paper version, saving you a little money and bookshelf space.

For some reason however, this year they have chosen for some unkown reason, not make the Cd only version available, you have to purchase the special books that come with the CD

I have NIV, TNIV, and NIrV.  Is it possible for someone in the U.S. to give these (Logos version)  resources away to someone in Europe or Australia?  I would consider  tradeing all 3 for a morphologically tagged NA27 (Logos version).

I seriously doubt it.  When I flew back and forth to Asia the US Customs department would confiscate recorded works that were regionally licensed. On eBay Microsoft frequently has auctions pulled on non-US licensed software. The NIV (US license) specifically excludes sales to overseas for whatever reason. The really weird thing is I can and did buy an Asia-licensed NIV product. Maybe the royalties are different prices. It starts to look like that NA27/UBS/German Bible Society mess. (Are the money-changer tables a necessary evil in the temple?)

A while back I was asking for technical clarification of the Logos EULA and basically came away happy just to use it and not abuse it. If I were still asking questions my question would be "What about a gift to someone overseas?" or "What if a missionary buys the NIV in the US as licensed product and takes it to the foreign mission field?"  But I am not asking questions.

Thanks Matthew!  It would seem like you could give it away, after all isn't salvation a free gift?  I certainly will not press the issue.  I only wanted to pose some questions.
