Forum threads already have page numbers, if each post on a page was assigned a letter then each post would have an address.  This would be useful when making reference to someone's comments or would make it apparent if a spam post was deleted.

Do you know that you can already reference a specific post?

Notice the little icon next to the name on the post. Left click it and the URL in the Browser address bar is updated to reference this particular post. In effect, each post has a specific URL.

As an example, a solution to a problem was given by Bradley Grainger. If you click here you should be directed to that specific post.

This does make it possible to reference a particular comment, but it won't identify deleted posts -- at least not directly.

Thanks Richard, I didn't know how to do that, but had observed that others had.  I suppose a link to a reference is better than just an address.
